This is an almost daily occurance on that road.

Then the "drifter" crowd comes out at night.

Where did you spot that?

All I saw was that he'd be riding like an a-hole on previous occasions an near ran one commentor off the road.  But I didn't see running from LEOs listed there...

Icon comes with those St. Christopher (patron saint of travelers) medallions (icons). All the protection you need. [roll]

you'd be surprised by the quality, construction, and fit of their jackets.
there are quite a few people on this board that aren't squids that wear icon stuff.
their helmets are VERY nice as well.
it's a really effective and affordable alternative to dropping $800 on a dainese jacket and an AGV.

Statler wears (or wore) an Icon lid.  They do have some decent stuff.. but yes they do market to a certain sub set of the moto population

Kinda like Deal's Gap.  Many many squid frequent the place.  No drifter crowd, though, maybe some wannabe tuners ~

icon actually started up because they wanted to make gear more affordable. and from what their guy told me, they are aiming at that crowd on purpose so they can get them out of the "gear is uncool" mindset.

i think that if the drifter crowd came to deal's gap they would very quickly be run out of town.

Any protection is better than none. Although, I may have my own preferences in quality you'll never hear a peep out of me for someone's choice in gear as long as they are wearing some.

(kidding. i'm from tennessee - they'd be too busy having to defend themselves from the roving harley gangs.)

Those of you laughing, remember false sense of security that comes with wearing all your gear will get you too.

Hope rider is alright.

I have no idea what you're talking about. People who gear up generally survive vs those who don't. It's not coincidental that they tend to be more conscientious and ride within their limits. Buying a leather suit isn't protection, but wanting to be safe will put you at an advantage over someone who wants to drift on the road.

I hope the rider is banged up enough to realize he's mortal and shouldn't do stupid shit like this. It will either make him a better and smarter rider or will make him a cronic danger to himself and others on the road until he's squished.
