great ideas!

I think the gun is ok but I'll look it over.

I think the other thing that would help me is more trigger time. I'm still new at this.

I shoot home loads if it matters.

I'd take it to a gunsmith if it is an older model.

but that is just my $0,02 if it is worth anything

Made with pride in '43 [thumbsup]

who is the maker?

I have a Remington Rand that is a 1943 model as well, probably half a million made during that time by RR.

tell me you have an AFPG model

Ahhh

It's not a 1911 then, it's a Sistema that is based on the 1911.

My pop was USAAC during WW2 and it would have been cool to find an air force pistol.  AFPG was the gunsmith marking for that version.

Bunch of companies made 1911s during ww2 -- Singer, USS, Remington-Rand, UMC, and so on.

I've got a really sweet Colt WWII 1911 that's stamped US property and in the #228812X serial # range. It was a Navy 1911. I forget all the other history but I am damn proud to own it! Totally stock with the original plastic grips. It's a keeper!! I love those guns!!!!! [thumbsup]

Due to my misunderstanding of installation of the grip........I flipped mine around on the USP-45.

I actually prefer the "incorrect" installation verse the correct one.

I guess it is personal preference.

However, I am going to take the advice and practice some tactical drills from my conceal holster with the grips installed the proper way to see if I like it better or worse.

I know Tizzy doesn't like the "feel" of a hogue on a concealed gun as it is a bit "sticky" when you draw, but every night, I practice for about 20mins in front of a mirror drawing and acquiring a target, which happens to be myself (gun is 100% unloaded and magazine is downstairs and not even remotely close to the firearm due to safety reasons. Same goes for magazine drops and reloads from my holster as I carry 2 Kahr mags when I chose to carry that and only one when I carry the Glock 19 due to the difference in capacity. If she can't get done in 22 rnds or 31rnds, you got major issues)

well, it is and it isn't. It was made by the Argentine military using dies, fixtures and methods direct from Colt, so it's really not based on the 1911. All the books I've read say they should be considered Colt 1911's and are valued equally.

Now the Ballister-Molina .45acp is based on the 1911, sharing the mags, barrel and (I think maybe) the slide.

Symantics...

Is there any other way? Can they be, say 32% unloaded?  :D

When you dry fire there is nothing wrong with having mags around. Just download them in the other room. You can't practice Tap-Rack, Reduced capacity, Emergency/Combat reloads without mags.

bwaaaaaa

I unload two mags and keep one loaded downstairs during my practice.

so yeah, you are right.

32% unloaded would be a bad idea for my bathroom mirror on a dry fire

When I was training the Air Marshals, I used to preach dry fire training. After about 6 months the "powers that are" came to me and told me not to teach that anymore, because one of the Fams shot a whole through his hotel room wall.

I told them that he wasn't dry firing then, hence the term "dry fire."  :D :D

I've heard from a friend that has been in the Secret Service for many years and has upgraded to a level which I will not disclose publicly that air marshals are a bunch of under trained cowboys.

I can't confirm or deny that, just what he has said of them through his personal experience.

Acquired last night.  Remington 700 SPS in 308.  Got a screaming deal on a new-in-box rifle. It will be the base for a 1000 yard rifle.  I know the SPS is the bottom of the Remington 700 line, but some have the same accuracy potential as the 5r or PSS with a bedded stock and a lighter trigger.  I am totally stoked.  I've got a guy lined up to teach me how to shoot out past 200yards and help me build this thing.  I hope to be shooting 1000yd matches at Quantico in the next year or so.
