That tard on the Sea Sheppard is about as good a spokesman for anti whaling as

this guy is for the medicinal marijuana cause

If I were Steve Irwin, I'd haunt that boat.
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

The so-called "international ban" is a voluntary ban (moratorium).  no one country has the power to enforce its law on another country (it's called "comity"), except by force.

That being said, it's stupid to hunt something into extinction, it seems we could come up with some whale farming methods, just like we have for plenty of animals (including fish)

The three member countries hunting whales are free to leave the IWC, but they hunt in defiance of the group they voluntarily joined. Japan hunts in a whale sanctuary in violation of the IWC mandate. Japan is a member in good standing of the IWC.

Sounds like the IWC has some issues.

As far as this Sea Shepherd organization. I'm with the others. As long as they have this yahoo captain and his worthless crew (I hit my head on the boat while it was going up and down, I'm having a medical emergency now [roll]) they are doing more harm then good for the cause. I'd never give them a dime.

The IWC makes a joke of itself. I attribute a lot of the criticisms of Sea Shepherd to the framing of the television show. Watson is a self-labeled propagandist. Between his personality, inexperienced deck hands and a reality television production, it's a perfect storm for putting some douchebaggery on the screen. This is still the group that walked ice floes in Canada to paint baby harp seals blue (w/ non-toxic dye) to ruin their coats for harvesters.

Grampa

maybe they should just stick to walking then

leave the boating to Statler

My point was that there isn't really an "international ban" there is a moratorium in place by the International Whaling Commission.

So if you're not a member, you can hunt whales with impunity and no one can complain.

Japan remains a member because all participation with IWC is voluntary.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

right, but i never hunted whales, nor did anyone in my ancestry.

guilt belongs to the guilty.

and as far as I see it, the only sin is hunting them to extinction.  an animal's an animal, and if one eats hamburgers or chicken and complains about killin' whales outside of the extinction issue, then one is being sort of hypocritical.

And I'm quite sure none of your ancestors ever used lamps with whale oil in them, ever.

If a McWhale came out, I'd try it.  :P
