The main thing the Ducati L twin has on the Guzzi twin is the width.  However, this doesn't affect cornering on the Guzzi as the "tits don't sag" as on the BMW twins.  The Guzzi's straight-thru setup gives it a power-to-wheel edge in theory as there are fewer moving parts at 90 deg angles to get the power to the wheel.  I think the Guzzis still use a single-plate clutch as well (which is dry) which has some plusses and minuses, namely the greater spinning mass since they have to cram more friction surface onto a single plate.

well, you gotta be fair even with kopfjager.  the guzzi pic is a studio shot of a prepped-for-portrait bike.  the ducati looks like it is someone's cameraphone of an actual raced bike.

polish up that ducati, remove the number and sponsor decals to clean up the look and do a professional shoot and i bet it looks very hot

Don't get me wrong...the NCR bike is friggin hot! I just like the lines of the Guzzi a little more, particularly the tail and seat area. I'd take either in a second though!

I'm only considering looks as well...considering the whole package I'm guessing the NCR is a better, faster bike...so I'd take that one.

The only thing I don't like about the Guzzi's is the torque effect from the engine. If you've ever sat on a Guzzi and blipped the throttle and felt the whole bike lean over you will know what I mean. I assume the Beamers and Gold Wings also suffer from this.

Yep, the whole bike leans to the right...feels pretty weird. It isn't noticeable when riding though...only at stoplights.

you get the same effect when firing very high power pistol cartridges. 

funny thing is that i actually like it (on the Guzzi)

I'm pretty sure the jugs on the BMW do not affect cornering, either. I saw a nifty layout showing degrees with a boxer leaned over-the jugs were not the first thing down. Derby posted it-maybe he'll chime in.
