Most Monster engines have a little radiator in the front for the oil to disipate heat.  The water cooled engines have a second, much larger radiator for the water/coolant.

Not necessarily.

The S4 had a first, much larger radiator for the water/coolant.

No oil coolers on the S4's.

Interesting topic but technically they're all air cooled. That's where the heat gets dumped. Everything else just helps with the transfer

Ya'll are misinterpreting the question.

Greetings Ducers,

What is the last year and biggest CC they made with air cooled monsters.   Yes anti freeze-free.   coffee

Biggest CC is 1100 (no antifreeze). They are still being produced, so technically, the last year they were made is the current calendar year, until they get discontinued.

I give the rest of the board an "F" for reading comprehension.

Yes  NO anit free-free.   coffee

I don't know what that sentence means.

For all the nerds pedants out there, perhaps we should use the phrase "sans oil or water based heat exchangers".

Did you read the very first reply?

Maybe you should give yourself an F...

Now all monsters are air cooled and biggest is 1100cc.

Or I don't understand your question.

1+

The intresting part about this question is what size engine can effectively be air cooled; oil cooled and water / antifreeze cooled.

So

What size engines have been engineered by Ducati  for air ,oil & water/antifreeze applications? Why use water as opposed to oil?   ... see new post  Grin

refer to ...

Forum > Moto Board > Tech > What size engines air ,oil & water/antifreez? Why?

by my recollection ....

air cooled; yrs? - 400; 600 620

Oil cooled; Yrs? - 750 ? to 02; 800 ; 900; 1k 1.1k - 2 valvers (and what about the oil cooled cyl jacket Nate mentioned; intresting)

water antifreeze cooled Yrs? Its related to the 4 cyl valves right?- 749? 848? 849? 916? 999?

s4rs and race bikes ... and they also have an oil cooler right?

Ah yes, but as a photo of my 696 was used and labeled "air cooled", I must point out that mine does indeed have an external oil cooler  Evil
