Anyone else drooling after this? I really want to switch over. I want more flexibility than my iPhone. I'm not a big apps person as most of the ones for the iPhone are useless and/or very low quality. Apple nixes anything that would actually be remotely useful.

im finding the form-factor to be very... bland.
the thing looks like an archaic brick with an early 90's keyboard... IMO
until someone else revolutionizes the smart phone world like apple did, the iPhone will be untouchable.
still, i won't buy one. ~$100 a month for people to be able to contact me 24/7 via email, phone, etc...? No thanks.

I agree, it's ugly. Still, the idea of not being shackled to Apple makes happy.

funny. i don't look at as a way for people to get ahold of me. i look at it as a way for me to get ahold of other people 24/7 + the internet in my pocket.

the idea of not being shackle to AT&T is what i find appealing.
fact is, their network coverage blows. verizon is much more widespread, and far more reliable.

I just got the my touch two weeks ago.  I'm actually on it now typing this. The android system is pretty cool.  I like being able to use the phone as a gps, check my email, play on the forum, and do all the other stuff a phone shouldn't be able to do.

The speakers sound pretty good on that thing with the multimedia dock. I also like the navigation dock.

Interviewer: "What's the pricing on that?"
Rep: "um, we can get you some pricing on that."

What? You don't know the price on that thing? That's the bottom line after you sift through features, service, apps, etc. What people want to know is, "what's it going to cost me."

Looks like the rep struck out the USA Today app, the Pandora app., then decided she wants to show some video. Not a bad looking device, but I agree that the home screen and icons look pretty plain.

It sure will, a little healthy competition with a better network could be good for them.  Seems like they figure they have the iPhone why improve if people will go with them just for the device.  Pick a network first then device not vice versa.

http://www.macrumors.com/2009/10/26/iphone-on-verizon-a-decision-that-is-exclusively-in-apples-court/

Offering the iPhone on Verizon's current network would require hardware modifications, given the difference in technology standards used by Verizon compared to all other carriers Apple has partnered with to offer the iPhone. Seidenberg previously noted that the iPhone would be more likely to come to Verizon next year when the company begins rolling out its 4G LTE wireless network, which will utilize the same standards as AT&T and other global wireless companies. Verizon expects to roll out LTE to 25-30 markets by the end of 2010, with full deployment expected to take until 2013.
