I bought a pack in college so I could get the little plastic holder thingy to complete my Raoul Duke Halloween costume.

Check out the Brand 2nds I mentioned earlier, they're awesome cigars at a great deal.  :)

Lu, you are the only lady I know who enjoys smoking Cigars.

strangely enough, my mom got me into smoking cigars. I have no idea how she got into it but its a crying shame because the poor woman hates scotch due to a bad childhood memory. My father always preferred smoking less, errr, legal sticks.

on a totally random note, if anyone has any old cigar boxes sitting around that they wouldn't mind getting rid of, I would be happy to take those off your hands. I'll cover the cost of shipping and send you something sweet and delicious in return. I'm opening a café here in Houston and want to use cigar boxes to stock the various treats we'll have on the shelves like macarons, brownies, etc. PM me if your down! Just so you know, I make a mean bacon brownie.

Ahhh cigars...

Lemme see, my favourite stick is the Esplendido. It's interesting to see you guys rag so much on the cubans. When I went to cuba a lot of people were selling fake homemade cubans, which were pretty much crap. A lot of the cigars that they'll steal from the factories are taken before they're sealed and processed, actually.

For the more obtainable stuff, the Flor Dominicana Doble Ligero is pretty good, but it can sneak up on you.  I've really been getting into them.

As DoubleEagle said, it's kinda hard to beat an OpusX, I've had exactly one in my entire life and it absolutely blew me away.

For everyday smoking I'm actually partial to a small company based out of  Venezuela, Crispin Patino. While their mass marketed stuff is absolutely unsmokable, their limited productions are really, really good. Cheap too  ;D It doesn't hurt that I grew up smoking them and am a little partial.

As for someone here mentioned acid, it's pretty aptly named. I would rather lick an ashtray.

I wouldn't call it ragging, well, maybe, but it is definitely the case though that other producing countries have caught up or surpassed the quality of cuban cigars, making it somewhat pointless so seek out ways to sidestep the embargo restrictions.  It's not that their cigars are bad of course, they're very enjoyable, and I'll gladly smoke a cuban if they're available.

And Acid's do indeed suck.

Origin or price isn't what makes a cigar interesting for me, recently i ordered a set of debranded (not sure if that is the right expression :)) cigars. The company that sells them are a small firm that offers these debranded packages every month, and at the end of the month they present what cigars it was. probably going to be impossible for me to guess brand and origin. But it gives me an opportunity to taste a cigar without any expectations and maybe find some new favourites :)

And when it comes to Cuban cigars, the ones that i have tried (not that many) have suited my taste.

Do most of you find that a Cigar tastes better while consuming your favorite Alcoholic beverage ?

I usually smoked and drank Glenfiddich Scotch or a Dark Beer depending on what activity I had just participated in.

I've been told to take a swish of Lemon juice and spit it out to clear my Palate so that I can taste the real flavor of the Cigar.

I'd say a Guinness is my beverage of choice with a cigar.  I wouldn't say I'm super experienced with the scotches, though on occasion I go in that direction.

I also clip mine, not a huge fan of a punch.  Also a reason I like torpedos, clipping is very forgiving with them, though I don't think I've had a cigar unravel on me in years.  I'd like to get a classy pair of scissors, but I usually forget to bring my cutter inside so I just replace them when I've left them in the rain for too long, so for the time being I can't have nice things.  I DO want one of those cigar tents like Arnold put up in the capitol building.

What do you guys do regarding bands?  Leave em on?  Take em off right away?  Take em off once they've loosened from heat?

Years ago a friend took his off right away and botched his wrapper, so I asked what the point of that was.  He said it was out of respect for others so he's not showing off his cigar brand.   ???  It was just a Cohiba.
