If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I call bullshit on that, unless he used drill press.

If you check out the article I linked, it mentions 3 shots of over 2,500yds. 8" at 2,500...0.5" at 600....all incredible shots. So I'm going to say on the right day, with the right rifle, and the right shooter possible not likely but possible.

I remember shooting a friends bull barreled .243 target rifle and put 3 rounds into a postage stamp at 200yds.
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

What article?  Nevermind, just saw the link.

And fyi: as much as I like to give mr headhunter shit, he does know a thing or two about this.

And yes, the White Feather was an amazing marksman but was also the exception, and FAR from the rule.

General purpose "sniping" rifles are .308, or 7.62x51mm.  There are quite a few other more specialized weapons out there though.  You just have to grab the right tool for the particular job.

Also a huge difference between a shooter who goes to the range every day except Sunday with a rifle custom fitted for him/her vs. someone who gets to the range once or twice a month shooting a borrowed rifle.

Tape 15-20 dimes around a bullseye, maybe you'll hit one just right after a few hours of shooting.....
