I too am starting a cafe build...we'll have to stay in touch! I'm a newbie to Ducs, but I build a show quality cb350 cafe, so I do know a bit about cafe stuff.

refresh this thread for me.
what would one need to do to adapt a 2V motor (900) to a superbike frame/swingarm? I've read "machine the cases", but what exactly does that entail, who does such a thing, and what's the cost?
I assume this means complete engine tear down, split the cases, and have each individually milled a certain depth.
Information would be quite helpful.

If you use a swingarm that fits the 2V (900) motor then you don't have to machine the cases. The 900 2V will bolt right into the superbike frame. The problem with this idea is you will have to construct and weld a custom shock mount to the superbike frame. This is what has been done for the bikes from Radical Ducati on the first page of this thread.
I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but it may be easier & cheaper to construct a shock mount than to mill the cases.

the 900 I have out in the garage was "machined" to use sbk swingarms. This was done by simply grinding down and facing the pivot area.
