The more I read about this the more I think these pirates are just huge idiots.  They were doing fine and making a lot of money when they were keeping it low key.  Now the more oil of ours they steal and even attacking our warships is just going to wake the sleeping giant.  They might they the ocean hides them but if we get unmanned drones and spy planes looking for them, they are in trouble. 

They are going to end up ruining a good thing for themselves.

these peoples' lives are SHIT.  they are worthless, which is why they keep popping up. take a guy who makes the equivalent of $1 for a year of shoveling shit and give him an RPG and tell him he can make $100 grand with one ship.

meanwhile, a single projectile from the warship in the article above costs $100 grand.

give me a warship vs an unlimited supply of those pirates each with an AK or an RPG, and I'll take the latter.

Well I always ask what drives someone to these sorts of levels of desperation...

why strapping C4 and ball bearings onto yourself and detonating in crowds seems viable....

why attacking ships from dingy's seems to make sense....
