I've met more than a few Ducati mechanics who recommended the DesmoTimes books for people to learn.  Moreover, he is directly involved with the community and writes, updates his books, and answers questions thru his website for free.  I am not saying other mechanics don't do stuff like this, but the only other mech I know of who offers this much (except hte pubs) is Chris at Ca-Cycleworks.  I look forward to the reaction when Chris offers one of his personal, maintained, and customised bikes for sale...

Not trying to enter the argument (hey, they're his bikes and have loads of cool stuff -- priced heavy, but w/e) - but, Chris sold his MH900e last year for quite a good price and it was his personal bike  [thumbsup]

I've observed Chris sell several of his bikes. All for reasonable prices.

+1, I've seen Chris Kelley's bikes go for realistic numbers as well, and he's not perpetually grumpy.

I've met LT...and gone for a ride with him.

I didn't find him grumpy at all. :-\

I don't think so...

but a fair amount of time has passed since it happened.

So it's possible.

That S2R8 is sick!

I don't think you could buy all the mods for $7000.

It's like buying mods, and getting a free bike to put them on.

I would not buy anything from LT Snyder again. I had a bad experience. His attitude is terrible and he thinks he is God himself and thinks he is the only one who is busy and works hard. I read his for sale ads and his snooty attitude makes me want to throw up. Will sell only to Ducatisti? oh really. There are plenty of normally priced Ducati's for sale, I do not understand why he thinks his are worth more money.

he is just a mechanic, there is noting special about his bikes at all. Anyone here coud build bikes to this quality, its bolt on stuff.

Amen brother. I completely agree with you. Also, part of the fun of owning a bike is wrenching on it and customizinbg it my self.

Expect some rude, sarcastic reply when he does answer. Do not even dare to call him because he is far to busy to mess with a phone.  [roll]

His SC is gorgeous, and he doesn't have an ad listed yet - I e-mailed him 3 weeks ago asking when it would be listed, and again the other night asking if he has a price in mind.

Hopefully I'll hear from him at some point ...

I don't get the shitty comments about LT.

He has supported the Ducati community, and NO ONE has any complaint about his work that I know of.

When someone sells all their bikes, it is usually because something bad is going on.  And if he's asking too much for you?  Well, move on.   Plenty of bikes around to buy.  His prices are high by market standards if you are merely comparing prices off Ebay, but how many of those bikes sat in their garage for the last year and never had a maintenance interval done?  Versus being owned by a real mechanic who used them for his books?  How much extra is that level of care and maintenance worth?

I just can't believe the level of acrimony.  I've dealt with LT several times over the last 6-7 years and every time he's been professional.

I can certainly understand vendors in this market being cranky now and then, given the pissy and childish responses here...

But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Not sure if this was directed towards me, but I was just pointing out that I was trying to buy one of his bikes and didn't get a response.

Buying a bike because a mechanic owned it is naive. I have done that in the past and have alway's been let down. I would prefer to buy the bike that sat in the garage unridden and unserviced. I would much rather do it all myself. That is just me.

Now, about the "Childish" comment. Everyone works hard and has responsibilities including myself. The last thing I need, want or will put up with is a snarky attitude from someone I am spending money with. He makes it sound like he is doing me a favor buy selling me parts. I asked him a legit question about his pricing and got the most sarcastic, rediculous email reply back stating that our business together is done. This after I just over $400 with him the previous week. Completely rediculous. I will not deal with someone like that. There are plenty of nice, professional people in the industry who will treat me with respect and gladly take my money.
