I've been thinking about this exact same thing lately except we don't have kids.

How to make weapons accessible on short notice and at the same time keep them out of an intruders hands.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I've been struggling with something for a while now that perhaps you experts can help with.  I struggle with how to store my personal protection pistols, especially in the home.  How, where, with what safety precautions, etc?  The struggle is between wanting to store safely, especially with children in the home, while maintaining the ability to grab and use in an excited rush if that need should ever arise.  Any insights appreciated.

There are larger models.

There is usually someone selling them at gunshows for prices close to what you can find online.

You can check the different models and save shipping.

Good luck.

My wifely unit is neither a gun or motorcycle person. Yeah, I know... why in the hell did she marry me? Good question? [laugh] Certainly wasn't for my charm and good looks. :P Anyway, she watches several young kiddos of friends (2-5 year olds) and I have had to strip down my normal 10-20 guns in every room to just a couple in the house. That's sort of a joke...

I told her for Christmas she should get me a small gun safe for under the bed. I found one I liked at Cabela's on line. It was a GunVault brand, mini deluxe/GV1000 model. Google Cabela's and search for gun safes. I'm too lazy to find the link right now. [laugh] If you get some kind of small gun safe remember to either order the locking security cable or figure out your own security method... ie. bolting it to the wall, etc. Half the problem is making it safe from small fry the other half is to keep some burglar from walking away with it and cracking it open later.

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Interesting points.

I don't have kids so I don't have to worry about that.  A small gun vault isn't a bad idea.

Im thinking more along the lines of where do you stash a shotgun or other hand guns downstairs (ie not in the bedroom) so you have something close at hand at times when you're not in bed?

Bolt a holster under a table?

That still leaves where to stick a sg so that it's ready when you want it, but when you're not near it an intruder won't grab it to use against you.

something to keep in mind are child protection laws that many states have and enforce regarding firearms....even if you don't have kids yourself, if there's ever a chance that kids could come into your home, it's worth checking into.

Kids are not coming into my home.

If they do they're there to rob me and they're getting shot at

;D

Never know I suppose.

Probably should assume they are.

Doubt it would ever happen though.
