It is a Federal law passed about 93, you are criminally and financially responsible for "anything" that happens with a gun that an underage (18) person acquires from your premises that was not confined in a safe.  Words are not right but it was passed in the first year of /Mr. Clinton. I remember they were trying to slip it through stating any age, which would have been disastrous except for the attorneys union.

Could you PM me a link to this legislation?  Sounds like hooey to me.

Federal lawsuits generally are not private party (i.e. individual) defendants.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Let's please be careful with talk that borders on political discussion, shall we?

No discussion, just a fact unless it was repealed.  Not even politics just a law.  I will do a search for more info and try to make it less political   ???

Just so you know...

we don't do gun law...period. It will get this locked and you a day off.

Talk about guns all you want.

I was trying to say "I am sorry" not "sorry news".  I must be having "one of those nights", Left out one stroke of one key and the whole world comes crashing down.  ;D

Just to end all of this nonsense, on top of it, it is Michigan not Federal.   I quit

yeah, keep it.  you'll regret selling it later.

if you HAVE to sell it, then gunbroker is your best bet.

I say keep it as well.

Wait. I thought I told you to keep it a couple of pages ago! Listen to your elders! [laugh]

And hey people, don't get my thread locked! ;D

This is by far my FAVORITE thread so far ever!!! Please do not get it locked. I have learned a lot about firearms from this thread, and also respect the opinions, reviews of firearms, and information here more than anywhere else on the internet. You ask why. Perhaps it is because I know that all of you have an afinity for fine working machinery. Perhaps it is because I am of the opinion that the majority of the people on this forum are here to help others, to contribute, and to come together as an online family of sorts. Okay, now I'm getting sappy. Let's talk about guns.

I'm looking at a Taurus model 617ti 7-shot 357 magnum revolver w/a 2" barrel for concealed carry; has anybody had personal experience with them? What do you think, and is $425 (plus tax) a good price in the Portland Oregon metro area? How much should I try to talk them down, it is at at a pawnshop here in town so I know they will haggle on the price but I don't know where to start. I was thinking about starting at $400 out the door, which makes it about $370 plus tax at 8.3% = $400.71. There is no fee for a background check here in Washington (I know I said Portland area, but we are on the other side of the river and I live in WA = buying a handgun in the state I LIVE in).

Oh, and I currently CC a Taurus 709slim in 9mm, and often wear bootcut jeans, so concealability is not a big problem with a gun of that size.

Taurus makes some fine handguns, that's for sure. As for whether or not that price is a good deal: look around on gunbroaker and see what you find in comparison. You might want to look through the equip exchange portion of AR15.com, as you can sometimes find good deals there as well.

One thing to keep in mind though, as far as CC goes, is that you might actually find it easier to keep a slim 9mm concealed than a wheel gun. Not saying anything bad about revolvers, but they can be more likely to print, depending on your carry rig.

I have the Tracker in .357 with a stainless frame -- it's the same as the 617's frame with some differences in the barrel, grip and sights.

I did NOT want the Ti version.  I held it and something about a 14 oz .357 revolver put me off.  I don't mind a superlight autoloader as the bulk of the muzzle blast is taken up by the slide, but on a revolver, it's going to be all in the wrist and forearm.

I believe you'll see a bigger energy:weight ratio on the Ti framed 357 than on a 44mag anaconda.
