Shooting round nose bullets?

Wilson Combat or Chip McCormic make nice mags

What's the issue?

Have you tried spring r&r?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Questions:

How long have you had the Dan Wesson? Is it new or did you get it used?

Are you using the original mags or aftermarket?

Is the FTF problem a new one or one that's been around a while?

Have you switched ammo lately? Are you shooting what you normally shoot? What brand and type?

Have you made the appropriate animal sacrifices? ;D

Has it had any massage work by a competent gunsmith? It might need some. Just saying.

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

FYI I have a Colt Officer's ACP MK IV that I am going to sell if anyone is interested.

Original box, papers, 2 mags, everything.  Excellent ++ condition.  PM me if you are interested.

I bought it new and it came with a few issues.  Sent it back once and then took it to a local guy.  It had serious extraction/ejection issues.  Case mouths being crimped from the top, lots of stovepipes.  Today was the first time I've shot it in a while and I don't really remember too many feeding issues, except with a few HP rounds.  I was only putting DoubleTap 180 gr FMJ Match rounds through it but I bought a cheap (relatively) box of Blazer just to put something through it today.  The magazines are the originals that came with it, I think they're Chip McCormicks but I'm not sure.  Guy I work with recommended these http://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html and offered to let me try his out.  Gonna do that this coming weekend and see what happens.

Try swapping the extractor.  I've foudn that most problems DO come from the mags, but often it's the spring with either too little (typically) or too much pressure (rare).  When you load a mag do you tap them regularly?

Sure, borrow your buddy's 10mm mag and see if it helps. Why not? 1911s can sometimes be a little finicky in regards to magazines. But I've had virtually no problem with Wilson or Chip mags over all the years. I had a Delta Elite years ago with some mild 'smitty work. Videcki trigger, beavertail, extended safety, night sights, port/polish, etc. and it worked fine. Traded it to a 10mm fanatic guy I knew. No personal experience with the Dan Wesson 10s. Not sure about the stock mag maker either. Let us know if your friend's mags help with the FTF. Did either Wesson or the local guy do any massage work on the feed ramp? Did their work solve the extraction issues?

Let me know if you ever want to sell your CZ-52

No 52.  I have a CZ85 one of the old models.

The only Tok I have is an AR upper on order.

7.62x25 is not .32, the CZ-52 shoots Tokarev (7.62) ammo.

I can find it as cheap as 7c/rd plus ship, whereas 9mm runs 16c/rd plus ship (in quantity)

I can't stand the CZ52, it's like shooting a zipgun.

I've talked to a couple of smiths about cutting a barrel and modifying a magazine for a Glock 21.  The problem with the Tokarev round is that it is so LONG, it won't fit into a 9mm frame at all, almost 5mm longer.

The only other option I can think of would be to convert a 5.7x28 pistol, but I wonder if there would be a thick enough barrel without modifying the slide... :-/

Shame, all that cheap cheap ammo.

I guess I thought you had one based on that.

Nope.  I borrowed one at a range.  Very unpleasant to shoot.

Do you (or he) have a NRA condition rating on the Python. I guess by your immaculate claim it's ANIB? So, call it 98% or better? I also assume it's a blue, 6" barrel. How long ago did he buy it and is he the only owner?

An actual pic and and number of rounds fired down the barrel  would be helpful.

Finally shot a (.44) desert eagle today.

Thing is gigantic.

Surprisingly light recoil, though. The gas system, and the million billion pounds of weight really soak up the kick.

The Desert Beagles I have shot have been very pleasant on the recoil and extremely accurate for a large caliber handgun, they just need to have wheels on them.  They are incredibly unergonomic (if thats a word) and are extremely difficult to shoot well offhand.

I have a couple Thompson Center Contenders that are the same way.  Very accurate but difficult to shoot well in field conditions.  Excellent off a rest though.  I turned one of them into a carbine in 218 Bee - my Wifes favorite praire poodle asassinator.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!
