You have to be careful, some are not well designed for it, and you're really stuck with one setup with it.  MacMillan has some that are adjustable for grip angle (I think it was macmillan)
Its a laminate stock, Ill just carve it to fit. Dremmel is my friend. [thumbsup]

Savage bolt action .22LR build update:
Base rifle is in hand
scope is mounted to the action
supressor is in hand
I have ordered the custom stock (thumbhole laminate) 8 week lead time

I still need:
trigger gaurd
stock hardware
bipod
stock finishing kit
(time and money)
I have all of the small parts in hand now. Im still waiting on the custom stock. It should be here soon! I have not made up my mind on a bipod yet.

Just got an email "sale" notice from Natchez Shooters Supply. I get 1-2 a week. Today's was regarding .223 ammo. Holy shit! The bulk purchase price on a 1,000 round box of loose Federal XM193 and American Eagle ball ammo went up $100!!!! I thought $289-299 was high... damn, now it's $399!!! WTF??? Overnight it went up. Are they price gouging feeding off the panic of the impending election? No politics here, just talking ammo prices. ;)

The point here is that may finally push me to buy a dedicated .22LR AR platform that mimics my semi auto M4 ARs. Seems like everyone makes one these days but I have no personal first hand shooting experience with them. Heck, don't even have a .22LR AR conversion much less a full rifle.

Anyone out there have one? Any suggestions? I'm too lazy to wade through dozens of AR websites and company websites. I'd rather just ask the folks I trust on the DMF gun stuff thread. I'd like a M4 style flat top, that way I could throw on one of my Aimpoints or Reflex II red dots and plink away. No matter how much .22LR goes up it will always be a deal. [thumbsup]

Thanks ahead of time.

I have heard lots of good thing about the Nordic NC-22 Upper.  You can get them from Nordic or from JP Rifles.  Don't be suprised if they are hard to find though.  As far as the dedicated 22LR ARs go, the S&W M&P 15-22 seems to be the most popular and the most reliable  [thumbsup]

I've seen the S&W rifles but have never put my paws on one. Having one would also help my 16 year old learn the ARs while saving money on ammo. He has a Ruger model 77 in .223 that he uses for deer and hogs so the ARs in .223 aren't the problem. Just the ammo expense. As long as the manual functions of a .22LR AR mirrors that of a normal AR it would prove to be a beneficial training tool for him and a cost saver for me. [thumbsup]

Maybe this weekend (if I can find time away from his school's homecoming game, dance and date [roll]) I'll spend a little "me time" and hit a few gun shops looking for a S&W. I know it would get a lot of use. ;)

I've heard good things about the S&W...has a functioning BHO from what I hear.  I still want to see the CMMG milspec .22- no shops have them locally.

Also decided I need a Keltec Sub 2000 Glock 17 as a truck gun.  I guess I'll keep making the rounds for that also.

What do you like about the sub2000?  The folding?

Yeah, that and I have plenty of mags and ammo for it.  I've seen 2 pop up for sale locally (.40's) that have gone quickly.

Speaking of 9mm....almost done with my AR.  Just need buffer/tube, charging handle, rail, optics...and 2 tax stamps.

I was asking what features he was building that requires two stamps.  Short barrel and happy switch can go under one.

That would be a weird setup as ss 9mm can't push enough gas for an ar bolt
Unless its a non gas bolt.  Even then its a heavy bolt.  Probably too heavy .

Correct.

It's got a 9mm ramped bolt- so you can use a standard AR hammer, also.  All of the purpose built 9mm's (RRA, Bushmaster, etc) are blowback.  I haven't seen a DI 9mm.

The only issue I've heard is to use a 9mm or H3 buffer, although the AR guy at my local range said to start with an H and work up.....

Edit: I would gladly spend another $200 for a happy switch, if I could.
