Not necessarily.  There are no civ legal full auto tavors.  I meant the sbr style.  The civilia  model is a sporter model with a long barrel which is idiotic on a bullpup.

The tavor is designed to have a short barrel.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

How about a CTAR with a permanently attached muzzle device?  The CTAR has a 15" barrel, so all you'd really need is to pin/weld an A2 still device onto it.  At least in theory.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

It would make more sense IMHO to weld an M1903 bayonet to the end.

I think the issue is whether you can find a short barreled version at all.

They are selling the SAR model only to civilians, AFAIK.  There is an "IDF" model which is similar to the TAR-21, but it has some features deleted.  (i.e. the forward PG doesn't fold down)

Tavor SAR IDF model (civilian):

TAR-21 (infantry model, issued)

FYI the Tavor with the M203 attached uses a barrel extension to mount it.  So maybe you're not far off base.  You can get 37mm smoothbore launchers which are not NFA and attach the same as the 203..  plastic barrel, etc.  Some are called the M2030, etc.

I wanna put one of those non-NFA flare launchers on my AR.  [evil]  Looks like an M203 from 10 feet away, but only fires the USCG-type rescue flares.

RPB and Cobray make one.  They are cool.  You can actually make the flares a little more interesting by loading them up with black powder.

My point was more like this.

Here's a Tavor with civilian legal barrel length (oal at least 16"):

And here's a Tavor with the CTAR barrel length (15"):

Assuming one can get their hands on a CTAR, all you'd have to do is permanently affix an A2X, or other similarly lengthy muzzle device to get the oal to exceed 16", thus averting the need to go through the SBR process.

They have a qc barrel.  You could just have it cut and the dev brazed on.  Nothing illegal about that provided you braze the dev on.

I did that with my AR100 but ive decided to sbr it.  Looks much better with a 14"

How hard it is to go through the paperwork to create a new SBR?

I haven't really considered it before, but I'm hearing of more folks doing it.  Kinda gets me to thinking about getting a shorter 300 Blackout barrel.  As it is, I am sorely tempted to go through the hoops to get a suppressor for it... 300 BLK subsonic/suppressed would make an excellent home defense carbine.  Easy to use and not deafening.  A suppressor can make a 16" bbl a bit unwieldy for in-home use, but on a 10" bbl it makes more sense.  Explaining it to the [leo] who came to clean up after the break-in could be interesting, however...

Its pretty easy esp if you have a trust for it.

ATF form 1, name the trust as owner.

Pay $200, receive stamp in 5-6 weeks.

Put barrel on.

Advice:  use the shortest barrel length physically permissible for the platform.

My SBR AR has a 12" barrel, but I filled out the Form 1 for a 7" barrel.  As long as the barrel you put on isn't SHORTER than the registered length, you can swap all you like.  You may also install a 16.5 or longer barrel (called a GCA barrel under the regs) provided you keep the short barrel.

If you sell the short barrel, then you've removed the firearm from the NFA and it is now a GCA firearm and you are required to de-register it.

No kidding.

"Firearm" under NFA means machine gun or SBR/SBS/AOW.
"Firearm" under GCA means anything that's not a machine gun, DD, SBR/SBS/AOW.  I.e. a rifle with 16.5 or greater barrel, s/g with 18"+ barrel, and OAL of such and such.

The Suppressor is a separate firearm.  Yup, it's a firearm under the NFA law.  You can put it on any weapon you like that fits.  Register the device, not the firearm.

If you want to look at shorter suppressors, check out the Reflex brand from Norway.  They mount over the barrel.  And they sell them over the counter without any nonsense.  It's considered impolite to show up at a range in Oslo without one.  Or hunt.

Not really.  You didn't want to deafen your family.  Makes perfect sense.   [evil]

kopf, was that actually issued to you?  If so, congrats!  That is a seriously cool rifle.  You'll have to let us know how you like it.
