Paper killer! [laugh] What did you shoot? The CZ?

Hey, great way to start the new year! [thumbsup] Ride your scooter too? [moto] Wish I had. Too busy cooking black eye peas and cleaning the house for junior's birthday party tomorrow. Jalapeno cornbread is in the oven and the BEPs are ready. [bacon] [drool] All I need is a bike ride and a shoot-n-fest and my year will be properly started! Oh and a good cigar! ;D
Yup...200 rounds all over the place. Mostly on the 8.5x11 paper. I wouldn't mind if there was some consistency in placement, but alas.

It was warm enough to ride today, but the range is on a dirt road, and if you've ever been on a thawing dirt road...

you'd take the truck too. ;)

In the spring you'd throw in 4 wheel. ;D

Meh, you haven't had it that long. Give it some time and burn through some more cheap 9mm. You'll get there. Those are damn nice 9mm pistols. I have rifles and pistols that didn't make me look too good at first. Then again I never look too good. ;D But I do enjoy shooting them regardless of how I look. [thumbsup] Makes me want to bust out my old CZ75 and waste some ammo! [laugh]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I bought 1K rounds for just over $0.20 per round shipped. Not too horrible at today's prices...and I picked up all my brass. I see re-loading in my future.

Today was a $45 day. ;D

Last time I went I shot 100 9mm and 70 .223.

Shooting is 'spensive.  :P

Reloading can cut costs big time.

I just started loading 9mm and im at about $.20 per for the first time around.

The second time around ill figure the brass at half the cost. After that I probably wont bother. Half of why I load is because I find it relaxing and its fun.

My costs are also higher because im starting with new starline brass. Once fired would be 2/3 the price.

Casting your own bullits really cuts costs but its more equipment and time. Not to mention fumes.

I have my .45 acp down to about .09-.10 cents a round. I don't cast my own.

Also, when you're at the range don't forget to pick up brass others have left. [thumbsup]

I ended up with a handful of stuff that wasn't mine. ;)

I didn't pick the trash can.   :P

GAAN

I've shot thousands of rounds through an old dirty M-16A2 with not a single hiccup

But

had a shiny new RRA AR15 jam every other round while shooting reloads

Point being

There are a ridiculous amount of variables that need to take place before a broad spectrum generalization like that can be justified

There was supposed to be a quote up there, damned iphone

You just need your own lower receiver.  Here is a stripped lower for $60

I think I'm going to buy a dozen of those lowers.. they have the correct rear geometry...

There you go.  $600 not including shipping.

Here is a rifle kit even cheaper- $465

why?

When I worked ATAP, we had an arms room full of their M-16 A4 knock offs. We had nothing but problems with them. Broken
trigger parts, front sight post's breaking, odds and ends failing. They did not stand up against daily use.

Yeah but most people don't subject their AR's to daily use. For casual use, the cheaper stuff is fine, now if you make your living on a SWAT team then buy the best.

Still, why take the chance?  I would want complete confidence that any weapon I have will work if/when it comes down to needing it.

The key words there are "needing it"
Again if your life might depend on it then spend the extra, but if you are buying for casual plinking, which is what I thought he wanted, then save the cash. For plinking, I'd rather buy a $600 AR15 and maybe have to replace a trigger part oo front sight for $50 than spend $1000 on a decent AR, or $2000 for a top of the line gun.

Looking for a new toy and was thinking a 40 or 45.  Any experience with different brands would be appreciated.  Currently have a Smith & Wesson 9 which is reliable as hell and also a Taurus 357 so I'm familiar with those brands.
Thanks.
