40 and 357sig are the same case from the point of view of the gun.  Same mags, extractor, etc.  Only the barrel is different.

As well as the 10mm & 9x25 Dillon - as long as the gun in question is a 10mm platform.

To clarify, 40sw is a cut down 10mm case, but you can't use 10mm rounds in a 40sw magazine.

9x25 Dillon is so rare as not to even merit discussion.

But yes, if you were nutty enough to carry around a 10mm hog, you could pick up barrels for 9x25, 40, and 357sig and they'd all function.  I wonder how the 357 would load though given the huge distance there'd be in the magazine and the breech?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Had my eye on the Colt 1911, and the HK USP.

I've shot the 1911 and I like it, but I'd have to get an extended slide stop as it's a bit awkward with the stock piece.

If I remember correctly, I've shot a Glock long ago, and didn't like it much...but I don't ever recall shooting a USP.

Any pros/cons or opinions regarding the 1911 vs the USP?

Your question fits in this thread just fine.

Two gun threads is plenty for a moto forum.

I didn't like the Glock when I tried it.  I was impressed with the Sig P229, and have been itching to give an H&K a try too.  1911s are almost too big for my hands.

+1 Heck, I even managed to squeeze in a Dyson vacuum thread! [laugh]

What's wrong with a stock 1911 slide release? Millions of owners want to know? ;D And there are aftermarket extended ones if needed.

I can't reach the slide release without altering my grip.  It's just not ideal for all people if you know what I mean.  Almost makes it a 2 hang operation.

If I went 1911, the extended piece would be a must.

If you are right handed and can switch your gun to a left handed slide drop try it.  I am right handed and have all my guns with a left handed drop that way I can us my right middle finger for a drop and not shift my grip "at all".  Probably will not work with all size hands but give it a try if your gun is made to switch.  My 911's took a bit of work but Brownells sells a supposedly drop in kit.

Yeah, just not getting the 1911 slide release problem. Although I certainly believe there is one for DarkStar. But I've got small/medium size hands at best and I'm right handed and I just don't have a problem at all hitting the slide release with my right thumb. And no, I don't shift my grip. Of course you could also try inserting a fresh magazine and with your left hand just pull back and release the slide and let it go into battery. I often use this technique on my Glocks. They even have a smaller release (except the 34/35s) than the 1911. But then again, if an extended release would work better for you then so be it! [thumbsup] No biggie. 1911s are great pistols, there is no end of goodies out there to make it exactly what you want. Well worth the effort in the end.
