I rebuilt a TS185 in my dining room.  Surely you can clean a gun inside!

I had a press and a riviter in my downstairs for a while.  I made some AK receivers and and built up a whole gun using milsurp parts.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

That'd be handy.

I have an AK kit that I've been sitting on for an embarrassing number of years. :P

with or without a receiver?  you can find serial numbered FFL receivers for around 34-40 nowadays.

i was pressing receiver flats for a while, but found the quality sucked.  i had better success with a pre-bent flat that I drilled out on a template, then dremeled the rails to finish and used tempil to harden the holes with a torch, worked much better than the flats.

No receiver at the moment. It's an AMD-65 kit, so whatever I get I'll most likely have to cut for the side fold stock, or just put a standard stock on it.

I've thought about the flats, or pre-bent "80%" (or whatever they are/used to be called) receivers, but have usually found myself lacking in confidence to do bending and/or torch work.

Ended up going for the Kimber 1911 Custom II Stainless TLE/RL II.

Not a bad choice.  I've really enjoyed my Kimber.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

the pre-bent are easy to work with.  you need a drill press.  you can pick up a small one for abut $70 which work fine.  some have done the drilling by hand but i don't recommend it.

tempering the holes is easy if you use the tempil stick.  it's basically a grease pencil but doesn't melt until you hit the right temp

+2!! Kimber's rock. Got lots of $$ tied up in 1911s. Les Baers, Wilsons, Springfield Armorys, custom gunsmith numbers, etc. But I shoot every bit as well with my Kimbers as I do with any of the other more expensive ones. Maybe out of a Ransom Rest some will group tighter @ 25 yards but I don't care. I personally can't shoot one that much better than the others. I just love shooting them all but I do appreciate the hand built feel of the high end 1911s.

Kimber changed the industry forever with factory "custom" features on their standard models and put the hurt on gunsmiths everywhere. They forced the other manufacturers into including the previous custom gunsmith features on their over the counter 1911s. I'm sure they are now on Ed Brown's personal hate mail list!! [laugh]

What are everyones reconmendations on $300 - $400 .22 pistols?  I love the hours of fun for little money I can have with my 10/22 & would like to get a pistol also.  Many of the .22 pistols I have shot like the walther P22 & the ruger mark III just feel a little to small in my hands to get used to.  Then theres also the part of me that wants to get the gsg 522 pk just for the cool factor, any one have any experiance with these?

The womans rifle class I taught yesterday went real well.  I had two groups of 10 women and my class was rated the highest of all the classes offered at the outdoor event.  Pretty fun!

This was the first womens event ran at this gunclub and they had 60 participants.  They had hands on instruction on rifle shooting, sporting clays with a top instuctor, Trap instruction by a former Olympic womens trap champion, sausage making, chainsawing, dutch oven cooking, trailer backing, ATV riding, etc.

I brought out a variety of guns from 22's to 416 Taylor.  Believe it or not, they shot up all my Taylor ammo.

Its raining today, so I'm scrubbing guns, the 22's and the 223's really took a pounding yesterday.

I really can't suggest anything better than the Ruger Standard or Mark series.  I have an ancient Standard Model that was my pop's from 1959 and a Mark II slabside Target model, both are amazing.  Maybe pick up some thicker grips for them?

There are some nice revolvers in 22 as well, Taurus Tracker in 22 is not bad -- 9 shot cylinder, and very well made.
