One has to ask why? I guess to say that it can be done? Kind of like mountain climbing. No offense to mountain climbers but I have never gotten the "we do it so we can say it can be done" thing. I know that's all personal stuff, etc. but I don't get the gun. And I'm a gun guy. ???
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Finally pick up the 1911 yesterday.  Haven't shot a real gun in years, was a bit nervous, and was still able to get prety damn good groups with a few on the center @ 10yds with the first mag.

Shot my buddies new Springfield XD45...for some reason we were all over the place with that thing.  Starting to confirm that plastic guns are not for me.

1911s! Still kicking butt 100 years later. [thumbsup] [bacon]

Going back to large calibers for a second, my buddy just got an A-Square rifle in .577 Tyrannasaur.  It's HUGE!  The round and the rifle.  Hopefully, I'll get to put my one obligatory round downrange soon.

Speaking of crushing skulls [bang]... OK, I'm bored. The Tour is over for me. The wifely unit is baby sitting her 7 month old nephew for the weekend. Lots of crying and diapers. :P Too hot to ride (103+). Again, just looking to kill some time before we try going to a restaurant for lunch with a baby. Wish us luck!

Sooooo, how about ideas on your personal/fantasy firearm collection. Or what you think everyone should have in theirs. The unobtainables all the way down to the absolute basics. Your list, your call. Throw it out there! [popcorn]

My list: First off .22s. I lean toward auto pistols, Ruger Mk II etc over revolvers. Then either a 10/22 Ruger or a lever action (Henry, Marlin, Win 94 if you can afford one now days). 10/22s are the Duc Monsters of the .22 auto rifle world. More mods and accessories than you can possibly imagine.

Next, shotgun. Basic stuff here. A good pump in 20 or 12 gauge. Nothing weird, no 16s or 28s. Having something you can swap barrels on is nice. Maybe a bead sight 18" for home defense, then a 26-28" with screw in chokes for bird hunting. I lean toward over/unders for bird hunting but that's just me. If I had only one shotgun it would be a pump. Not even going to mention a brand... just a good solid pump.

Gotta have a good size revolver. I like S&W K and L frames, 4-6" barrel. Probably in .357mag so you can plink with cheaper .38spl. But I would also need to have a J frame snubby. Something like a hammerless 642 stainless or 442 blue in .38spl +p. Great self defense pocket guns... in fact you can even shoot them through a jacket pocket if you have to. Nothing to snag. [thumbsup]

Lastly, rifles. There are times I think I could live with a lever action. I've got three Win 94s in 357 mag, 45 long Colt and a classic pre '64 in .30-.30 (inherited from my Dad). I love them but... the cold reality is I would lean toward a classic bolt gun over a lever action or a semi auto AR platform. Not that I don't LOVE my ARs but I'm thinking of this list being a "just the basics" collection. It's a little boring but a Rem 700 rifle would be great, probably in a standard caliber like .308 and topped with a Leupold 3-9/4-12 scope. Again, nothing Earth shattering or too controversial. A bolt rifle like that would get 'r dun 99% of the time! ;D

There you go, that's my list. I'm more hungry than bored now so off to the restaurant we go. Looking forward to seeing some list posts. And the opinions that go with them. I'll check in later after we eat and the baby takes his nap. [thumbsup] [drink]
