I'm sure you can see in the "wave" photo that he is using proper riding technique; see how he is leaning his upper body away from the turn so you are sure to be able to read his Harley tee shirt.  Plus, it looks like he forgot to put new knee sliders on his riding pants so he couldn't lift it back with his knee and save it.

Once he started grinding hard parts it was over for him.  You can see he lifted the front wheel.

Wonder what was going through his mind as he crashed, "...but I thought the Harley salesman told me I would be the most envied, the coolest, the subject of praise and the best rider on the street; especially after I added all the extra chrome!"

I'll bet he even "soiled" his Harley Davidson underwear during that crash.

His technique is good, but he's got the wrong it in the wrong order.  You gotta wave after you save it.

Carbon fibre doesn't produce the nifty spark trail when you drag it.

Plus, trying to recover an 800 lb bike is a lot different than doing the same with a 425lb bike, crash bars notwithstanding.

Back on topic, the booklet is an example of what I hate about most marketing and sales people.  It is a rare treat when a salesman actually knows a bit about what they are trying to sell to you.  Even more rare when they understand their competition. 

And to bring it even closer to home, these were the same techniques they were trying to use on potential Buell customers.  Only difference is the Koolaid they had drank didn't cover that brand, so they didn't know what to do...

To me, a bike dealer should be a rider, and one that has experience with other styles/brands.

same for cars. you should KNOW the competition from experience not a book.

I was once told by some douchebag that owned a Beemer GS that if you went into a corner too hot on a BMW, you could lean it over and catch the low-side head on the pavement and it would lift the front wheel off the road until the bike slowed down enough and you could then stand it back up and continue through the turn.
