Where did my money go?

What ever else it may be, the new zx-10 certainly doesn't have a conventional inline 4 under the hood. Cross-plane crank or even maybe a v-4....  Grin

Have a listen and you decide.

I read about it recently in the August 2010 issue of Cycle World in the Round Up section. It's not a V-4. It's an inline four "big bang" motor "with a 540 degree, no-fire zone in it's 720 degree cycle". It's different from Yammyhammer's cross plane motor. The weird firing order should provide the same sort of drivabilty/traction gains that the R1 has.

And apparently an internal electric motor that maintains crank momentum at idle & lower RPMs (instead of a heavy crank or flywheel) since there's such a long pause between firings.  Shocked

Now that is whacky and cool. Is it a single "dead zone" or is it broken up at all?

from the description, i'm assuming a single 540° deadzone with all cylinders firing in the remaining 180°.

Me too. It will be interesting to see if they step up to the plate and actually field a team to support the bike and get the riders who can get some podiums on it. Their past says no. I hope they take it seriously. waytogo [moto]

That's going to be hard on the trans and clutch, I'm assuming they're beefed up.

Heavier....
