For a ready to go wet weight street bike it is

and it's nearly 60lbs lighter than the next in it's group

it's 296 lbs dry, not wet.  Add another 8-10 lbs for a battery, gas weighs 6 lbs/gal and another 7 lbs for 4 qts of oil.  I'd say add another 40lbs for the wet weight. 

Close to 340 lbs wet. 

So I didn't make an ass of myself at all, I assumed correctly.  Weights are always reported as dry.

It is a 250 though so I doubt it will take 4 quarts of oil.  Don't know what electronics it has to run but I doubt it would need a large battery either.  I like it but I think it would look nicer with some clip-ons.

Didn't mean to nitpick sorry, I just recently picked up an older Honda 250 and was trying to think why this bike seems so heavy.  The bike I have is a 76 honda 250 and according to this website http://bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_xl_250_1976.php the weight is listed as 326.  Highly doubt it is accurate but even if it is close it doesn't make sense that bikes haven't gotten much lighter over the years.

That was kind of my initial response.  Who cares if an American dude went to China to set up a factory... tons of American dudes go over there and set up factories.  They make millions of bikes over there that we don't get to see, and I am sure some are really cool.

What annoys me is that he couldn't make it work in Cleveland or another mid-western city.

The fact that "manufacturers he talked to shied away from motorcycles due to liability concerns" is SO lame.  Are people really that scared of getting sued?  I think its a cop out and his way of saying I couldn't get the capital raised to build a bike in the US, so lets go to China where it will be cheap and noone will be held accountable...  This is the way of the world, but lets leave out the "I tried to biuld it here" story. 

The cafe bike looks cool, but for that kind of dough you can get a really nice 70's Japanese bike.  Who knows which will be more reliable?  

The 250 bobber/chopper is lame, and I have seen the same bike being sold at PepBoys and on ebay.
