So they boosted the check, kept the amount the same and the check number the same, and tried to cash a just printed check filled out with a new payee?

Good that the bank was suspicious.

Correct, except the original amount was $945

What tipped off the teller?

The homeless guy didn't fit your vendor profile? ;D

Large amount and he had no account there. Also, their check had a different font than ours normally do.

Thankfully there's not much scrap to play with. The guys have been doing a great job.

It's actually going really well. Last year was huge and this year is shaping up just as well.

We're actually paying ourselves now. It only took eight years.

When I had my shop I never worked harder, longer, or made less but it was always better in some ways than putting that much effort into someone else' pocket.
