(yes, Ducati is making a HyperMotard)

I've got a HM cooler now - it was said to improve cooling - does it?

The size is 225 x 80 mm (didn't measure depth)
Is that larger than stock S2R coolers?

issss bigger than the old school box oil coolers like on me 900's

By chance, could you measure the distance between the two mount tabs?

Stock is 225x75x35mm with 6 rows.

It's the black that affords better cooling... 8)

The EVO has a much much larger oil cooler

I know  [drool] 85% better AFAIK.
The shop exchanged it for free, claiming better cooling as a result.
Maybe they are wrong, but I get a black cooler with rerouted lines out of it [thumbsup]
In my climate I've never really seen a need for the larger capacity anyway.
If it turns out I do - the EVO cooler might be next. Or the NCR 8)

How hot does it get there?   Why did you get a hypermotard cooler?
I have ridden in 105ºF here and never had a problem with over heating on my s2r800

I'm wondering the same thing.  Overcooling is not necessarily preferred, especially since the system is not thermostatted, but the HM coolers with alternate routing of the lines is a nice setup.

in your climate maybe not.. but with your motor... probably

my air cooled bike runs hot, and if i want to improve upon it anymore, i'll not only want a bigger one, but will need a bigger one.

Febur oversized oil cooler for  Hypermotard (came out before the EVO):

NCR oversized oil cooler for Hypermotard (via Desmoworks):

SC-Project Hypermotard Oversize Oil Cooler (via Motovation):

here's an interesting visual comparo - the stock sportclassic size (same as monsters i believe) with the NCR replacement (predecessor to the current curved model):

Then there's the Febur version compared to Hypermotard '08 OEM cooler(that is the Febur for Hypermotard, with port for temp sensor, unlike NCR I believe):

Wish I had the dims of the Hypermotard 1100 EVO/SP oil cooler. Part number is 54840931A, looks like MSRP is right about $370.

I've got to say, though, that I've always thought the 'hanging' oil coolers on certain SS's looked really pretty cool (I think carb models - hung from bottom valve cover on horizontal cylinder head, instead of above head from top valve cover - think MH900e) -- Gravel and debris be damned!

and an MH900e photo with screen/guard from ECS:

But I want the Febur oversized model (FE 164) - has the triangular SBK shape:

Sure would make carb fiddling easier and I think it would provide more 'clean' air to the vertical cylinder (much like the carbon intake ducts coming off the frame sides are supposed to do).

Motowheels has that one in stock, and the oversized Monster one (FE163) from Febur.

I've seen shots of people mounting up the 999's oil cooler to the hanging mount on SS's and it looks pretty good too (and is black, so not really visible)....

Or perhaps the low mount version from NCR from the 848:

SC Project even has a model for the Hypermotard EVO, would like to know the differences in dimensions all around (so I can know if it can be adapted to other bikes'):

I was originally wanting to go with a triangular cooler. I ended up replacing the stocker with an S4R cooler. I like the way it came out. If I had to do it again that curved Febur would be at the top of the list.
