I've just got my evo, and one of the main selling points, for me anyway, was the stock exhaust system. I like it a lot. Sounds good as well, as I have no time for window rattling after market cans. So, I'm probably in the minority then!
Mine's an '11 796 and it makes good tunes even when I'm wearing earplugs. No need for more noise. A few of my riding pals even commented, "Is that stock?!".
Maybe they
are
richer-sounding than the old bikes.
In your case, you might have MOT issues as well.
Saw your intro BTW. I'm 65 and broke my shoulder 2 1/2 years ago and feel your pain. My old K-bike was out of the question and as soon as I could move my arm again, I picked up a Bonneville T-100 for the upright riding position. Nice engine and good looks for a standard bike but not much else. It
did
strengthen my arm muscles and has been good therapy.
This year I finally had Ducati withdrawal symptoms and picked up a 796 to fill the void. 400 lbs makes a huge difference I agree!!! a few minor mods later, I'm very pleased to have a bike again which goes where you "think" it.
Have fun!

Agreed! I love how my stock 796 cans sound. However, they are a bit bulky and heavy. But, they dont stick out past the tail! I think that with time there will be better options for exhausts for the new Monsters.

The Arrow pipes aren't too bad...but still not quite what I'd want.

I think you can almost stick any can on this bike you want
Just make a linkpipe and buy something different (like a nice short Akra)

Me thinks the stock looks better than what is currently available for the EVO.

How did you get your exhaust that color? I have a black evo and would love my cans to be that color....until I can afford Termi's

Remove the exhaust, clean with soap and water, let it dry then spray away.

I think that looks better than any of the other options I've seen so far. Nice work and reasonably price also. I would like to see how it looks with a black bike.
With the Termis kit I am probably more interested in the ECU than the pipes.

That's not too bad! I like that the rear wheel is hardly blocked.
