Hey guys, I've been on the forum for a bit now.  For some of you that recognize me, I just returned from Afghanistan and was thinking about selling my Monster, until I sat on it and rode it.  Now she is in the stable to stay.

Well anyway, on the the subject.  A fellow Marine noticed I had ridden to work the other day and looked at my bike.  He saw me with my helmet, an AGV T-2, and said "Why would you have an AGV if you ride a Duc?"  I replied something to the affect of, AGV is a good piece of gear.  If fit my head and face well, a very comfortable helmet.  I know there are "better" helmets out there but comment like this kinda get under my skin.  Just looking for comments guys.

I wouldn't worry about it.  I ride a Ducati but am not willing to drop $400+ on an Arai, Shoei, Schubert etc.

I have a KBC which is a solid, decently priced brand and an Xspeed, which is a budget brand but still approved.

Does said fellow Marine ride too?  If not, it was just an ignorant statement based on ads & propaganda.

I'm with JM,

If it is to your liking stick with it.

More expensive lids usually just have more features (e softer padding, less noise, etc).

ps Thanks for serving and welcome home. [thumbsup]

Yes, he rides a chopper.  I just figured it was, as you put it so perfectly, "ignorant statement based on ads and propaganda."  Still kinda pisses me off though, oh well.

'Sounds like the similar statement of "you ride a Harley, why are you wearing a helmet". Every head is different. I own an Arai, but it is my personal choice. The last thing I would do is criticize someone for the brand of helmet they wear.  Its not what you wear, its that you wear it.

Yeah, I was just going to choose an entry level helmet that was DOT approved until I stumbled upon this great deal.  It was basically with my color scheme, red and black, and it was knocked down from $500 to $200!  Good discount for me coming back from Afghan!  I was stunned!  Thanks for the friendly comment bro!  Much appreciated.

Well put, bro.

If the helmet fits it's the right helmet for you.

I wear an AGV GP-Tech because it fits and it's less than an ARAI.

I've crashed in one hard enough to shatter the c/f shell and didn't even see stars or have a concussion.

Rossi wears one too...he rides a Duc. ;)

First off, my apologies for the wrong thread area.  Thanks for moving it.  I was going to say Rossi wears an AGV, didn't want to seem shallow.  Hahaha

AGV.... crappy helmet?  [bang]

It's their second most advanced helmet, now replaced by the Grid.

Affordable yes, but 'crappy' is way way waaayyyy off.

Don't ever be sorry.

It's OK to admit you are wrong. ;D

AGV makes excellent helmets, I don't own one because they simply don't fit my head.  Did you ask the "critic" what is wrong with AGV?  Bet he hasn't a clue.

thought

I wish I fit the AGV's... I had to decide between a GP-Tech Rossi 5 Continents and a Arai RX-Q, both around the same price.  The AGV was awesome, I'm a big fan of the Rossi gfx (I think it's one of the few ways to wear hi viz yellow and look normal at the same time)... but it just didnt fit my head.  Too tight around the ears for me, the shell smashed them down to my skull and one size larger was way too big.  Compared to the RX-Q, the GP-tech has a more plush interior and great high end looking touches.

I finally got the RX-Q because once I put it on it just fit perfectly from the start.  So like everyone here has said... the best helmet for you is the one that fits.

I wore an ARAI RX-7  for years.

When it came time to replace the 'replacement' model didn't fit the same.

The Q wasn't available at the time...I'm glad for that.

If I could try one on somewhere near here (Iowa), and I liked its fit, I would buy this one in a hearbeat
