I very much appreciate the input Nate-I don't actually know what I'm doing. I won't let that stop me, though. I never let it stop me either. Figure a way to lay the new panel over the top of what you have left...fasten it with rivets...you can weld up the holes later. I don't know how fine a cut you can make with a plasma cutter...I always used cut off wheels with masking tape as a guide.

I like this method. I think you would have finer control with the c/o wheel than a plasma. If you're intent on the plasma I would suggest a test cut to prove it will do what you want before you take it to your car. Great job BTW!

3+ for the cut-off wheel.
The kerf on the plasma will be too wide.

It's how I did the first side. I left a little extra and trimmed to fit with a wheel.

So due to the frame rot on the '61 Chrysler and the fact that on that car, the front frame unbolts, we figured a swap might be the most straightforward repair. Doubly so as I was too lazy to sell the parts car (see mom? Laziness can totally pay off). I should have the front frame tomorrow. I like the seats I pulled out of this thing so I may put 'em in mine-they're nicer in every way.

Bing. Bang. Boom. Smart people would've backed the car in to make getting the frame out easier.

Do you have a forklift or skid steer or something?
How're you planning on moving the parts car now?
You could always bolt the sub-frame from the other car to and have four tires back on the ground.
Or you could cobble up a trailer tongue to bolt on in place of the sub-frame.
With the car being driven in, it would add a little difficulty to hooking up and pulling it out of the garage though.
