I have a soft spot for Sportsters. I gravitate to them when I hit the HD dealer. I think it started with 'Then Came Bronson.'

i like the idea of better suspension and brakes.
i wish they could put it on a diet, tho.

for $11k tho, i wonder if you could get a used sporty for $4-5k and get new triples, forks, wheels, brakes, bars, and come out less than $11k

That would be the best route imho, and put this kit on it.    8)

Mule is a nice kit.  Ryca is another one.

altho, finding a XR1200 would be even closer, altho they're kind of uncommon.
580 pounds.. curious if the suspension/brakes is different.

This one appears to be setup pretty well.

Nice. 17" wheels would finish it off for me nicely. I guess bigger wheels give the look and ground clearance.
Bloody nice. Nearly built one but got my first Monster back in the day.

The Bronson bike. The show came out in 69, so it was probably a 68 (?). Shovelhead, kick start, right side shifter, and the tank logo was killer.

I'm a big fan of that XR1200 - I looked at one when I was looking for my bike - it's a really nice machine, and you don't see too many of them

not sure HD dealers knew how to sell them.  unfortunate.
see very few of them for sale around here.

Also, like you said, they're very heavy. One of the more practical reasons I picked the Monster over it.  If I had the funds/space/etc I'd like to own one, but I wouldnt give up my bike for it.

looks like they're starting to respond to the marketplace.

I like the bike, but for the engine nature (I own a 2012 Nightster), I think a less forward leaning riding position fits better.

Speedbag

Sorta nifty.  8)

Wonder if it's somewhat of a parts bin special though, probably knowing H-D. Those forks look suspiciously like the ones on my VRSCR.....

I wanted an XR1200 to trick out a bit when they were new. Definitely a rarity.

Front forks & brakes are from an MV Agusta F4?!?  Whoa...  Didn't see that front-end swap coming!  [laugh]
