I will look for rebuild kit, but it's 20 yrs old. Aluminum fatigue might be a factor. Don't want to reduce effort, but I'm not running stock clutch springs

Today class, we are doing a retro head swap
The 95 heads look way cooler then the 2000.
Geometry is all the same
I'm hoping the Ducati gods will intervene if I'm dead wrong

Aren't 2000-2002 900 engines fuel injected?  If so, it has better cams.

Double check the oil galleries line up between the barrels and heads just to be sure.

They do, thanks.
1st thing I did was to check all geometry

The big changes to oil passages were at the barrel/crankcase interface. I couldn't remember for sure about the barrel to heads. The old motors had oil cooling galleries in the barrels and not just oil drainage. Pretty cool uh?

No major changes till 02, big change from a 95 to an 2000 was eliminating the oil lines on the barrels. All interior oil passages, valving, cam dimensions and other ports are the same. I've been wanting to try this for a couple yrs, just happened to raid shed and there they were, rebuilt and ready to go. And if it blows up, I was wrong, lol

The Dakar Elefants enjoyed the oil cooled barrels. Oilways circled the barrels on the way down. Similar to Suzuki's air/oil cooled system.

Those ie cams are useful. Have prescribed them for a very hi comp carbed 944 which needed more cam to actually turn over! It relieved the cranking pressure and gave a useful bump in peak power too. The bike also ran smoother with them, so its not just the efi alone that makes em smoother imo.
Do you have a 750 to try the 900 cams with?
