No traffic between DIMBY and southern MA, so I made it home pain-free.

Another good time with good folks!  Thanks as always to Nate and Teresa and Zeke for allowing us to ruin the peace of their weekend with exploding beans, dog-taunting drones, abundant (sinister) caramels, and relentless attempts to put unauthorized stuff in the fire.

Digging my own thread up out of Necroland...

I finally went down this weekend and test drove a used (2015) 1200S.  Decent bike, some odd cues on the maintenance, but that is for another thread.

I really liked the seating position of the MTS, and particularly the wind protection.  At, again, 6'2" I was able to sit straight up and just ride the bike, instead of leaning into it and trying to muscle it with my shoulders and knees... which was a relief. Driving in Saturday Dallas traffic, I wasn't really able to whack it open and see what it would do... but I got the idea.

I really do miss the Good Old Days of analog gauges, but I could see where the MTS display would tell you everything you wanted to know... I suppose.  It certainly was easier to read than my flat Monster display, which I consider horrible.  This bike was not set up well, suspension-wise, but it had the electronic ride control, and maybe it just wasn't set to my liking.

In the end, I don't really think this was the specific bike for me... but I'm more and more convinced an MTS is in my future.

...and, no, the Monster isn't going anywhere.

Home safe, despite the idiots and traffic.

Thank you Nate and T! A good time, as always!

I love watching these cruises through the Alps on Youtube while doing my Plant Operator thing. they are pretty good to watch compared to temps and voltages that are pretty steady and one of the things I want to do if I ever get the chance!

To see an S4R, which I see as a rare bike already to smoke up by itself kills me but at least you are ok. Has the frame bee looked at? I'm wondering if the frame can e rebuilt along with the engine. IS the dash semi intact like the 24C16 chip that holds the eeprom and key codes. If the chip itself is still in one piece, you might still be able to get the codes, reprogram some t5 chips and reflash a "new" dash with the old stuff.
