The DQ motor is quite stout when built right. The last time my S4R was on the dyno we were pushing 148/87 to the wheel and that's not done yet. (fully built motor for those about to cry "Randall!")  I take much pride in achieving those numbers with the "obsolete" engine.   Grin

Sure, a stock one with a full exhaust.  You can get a 104mm testa motor for $3500, pretty common price when they come available.  For those not in the know, thats the 999r motor.

104mm bore testa's, with ported heads and the big tube exhaust are pushing low 160's with the stock "R" cams...and thats with a stock stroke.

It's all relative, and I guess it sounded like I was knocking the old motor.  I was, but only sue to the pain in the ass valve adjustments, and the known issues with rockers. 


Bottom line... Bike still kicks ass Cheesy

The more I see the bike the more  I like it.  But nobody does it as well as the factory.

Remember when Strati was putting a deep sump motor in a monster frame?  He sweated blood over it and before he could get it on the street, Ducati had one on the showroom floor for $15 large.  Case in point here being the StreetFighter 1098.  Not the same thing, but same neighborhood for sure.

All said an done, though this bike is way bad ass in my book. 

Wonder what a 1098 StreetFighter would look like when these guys got finished with one?  But then again, what mods would you do the a StreetFighter S?

That bike is in the shop I work at, It's just on display right now. Brian's a friend of mine, I think he's working on some new project at the moment. I'll post up some more pics this weekend if anyone wants.

I tried to fit a superbike radiator overflow like that in my s4rs but it wouldn't fit Sad  Does anyone know if it *should* fit or are the frames different enough that there is no hope...  That Indy 696 is such a cool bike -

The tank up by the steering head is actually a header tank, not an overflow tank.
It's part of the pressurized system.

I suppose you could use it as an overflow tank, *if* it can be plumbed that way on your S4Rs.

No idea why it didn't fit on your bike.

They should make an exhaust like that for the m1100s.... i would be all over it.
