It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Mornin' TiNi, DD & Freshie  ;D

I learned a lot this weekend...

2-up on a Monster 750 while riding the hills & valleys of WV being out-powered by EVERY other bike on the trip does interesting things to the Monster.  [laugh]

1.  Rear tire now needs to be replaced
2.  high-speed sweepers are an exercise of complete trust by A) my passenger in me, and B) me in my tires
3.  Hard cornering results in this interesting oscillation
4.  Tight, deep bowl 2nd gear turns with small rises between them require very careful thorttle application between turns
5.  Even the smallest bump under heavy throttle leaned over results in a slight pushing of the front
6.  Riding in the pouring rain on roads covered with dirt, clay dust and gravel becomes an exercise in controlled sliding moreso than riding
7.  You won't get past 100mph 2-up w/ a headwind
8.  Even 2-up & outpowered, chasing down a Daytona 955i is fun
9.  The Monster 750 is tough as nails considering how hard it was run this weekend trying to stay with a herd of 100+hp bikes riding solo

Steering head moves freely & smooth.  I'm going to go with overloaded rear suspension (2-up, spring for my solo weight) + too much preload considering the ease at which it would push the front.  Seems my forks only travel about half their available travel even with a couple spots of hard braking and a couple serious bumps.

I also fixed my mental issue in left handers this weekend [thumbsup]

Definantly undersprung in the rear with nearly 400lbs combined rider & passenger.  I also hadn't adjusted the preload ~

One of our folks we met up with used to ride a Monster.  She's got a 996 & a Speed Triple (1050 version) and we had some good conversations about Monsters and their behavior.  She's an excellent rider & has spent a good bit of time on the track and had this to say

"Riding a Monster aggressively is kind of like organized chaos.  It feels like it wants to lose the front then thrown hard into a turn and deep lean, then it starts to oscillate somewhere mid-turn.  It's almost like it's out of control, but it isn't and is quite fun once you get used to it's Monsterness."

I can say my confidence in what the bike can handle is much improved.

so i found out that the parts that were supposed to be shipped from NY last week didn't actually make it out the door so i couldn't fix the duc this weekend.
that's ok because the XR finally gave up on sat morn as i was heading out to pick up some stuffto try and fix it's stalling issue. turns out the mech who put it together last  time stripped out the hole for a head bolt.

i had to rent a car...commuting in a cage sucks ass!

i don't know how you people do it without blowing up or getting out and stabbing people. on the plus side, i'm much more visible now.

NING, ning, ning Ash.  Gargle with salt water in the shower and snort it up your nose too.  Second part make the shower a must!

[coffee]  Day off.  I got nothing done yesterday.  It was a great day.  No bikes washed, no movie.  I did not even read half the paper.  Oh well.  I can do all that plus laundry and house cleaning today  [thumbsup]
