its old. 2001..i actually had planned on getting a new car & trading it in next week...but then the demon neighbor happened. such is life i suppose.. its probably not worth my effort to argue with them..but i might mess with my neighbor for a bit. i really despise the guy, for a variety of reasons..

you did nothing wrong so you deserve to have the car returned to the exact state it was prior

I'm sure my neighbors were none to pleased when I got rid of the car they had to fix for me just a few months afterward. Oh, well.

If you have no note on the car take it and the check to the dealer and get the new car.

I'm guessing it's over 100K and really isn't worth fixing or worth much regardless of condition.

If you argue your case successfully, wouldn't the repaired 2001 car at least gain back some resale value (especially if not trading in to dealer?)
I'm guessing the insurance company wouldn't give you as high of a cash value to use for the new car...

Oh boy, be careful they may total the car out on you due to it's age and value. Make like you're attached to the car for some sentimental reason. Make it very clear in the beginning.

When the total it out they only have to give you fair market value. All his carrier is going to want is to close out this claim as fast as possible. Drag it out. If/when they total it the car will then be assessed a salvage title and be all but worthless to trade, most dealers won't even want it for a dollar.

Mmmm, cookies look good. In our house, there's a disturbance in the force, as Friday is our traditional pizza night, but a variety of work trips & holiday plans have conspired to keep it from happening for the past two weeks, and a favorite band is playing a local bar this Friday, so....

So far, the dough rose, and the curds for home-made mozzarella congealed according to plans. Fingers crossed.
