that isn't exactly a day at work.

I'm just relieved I didn't make the beast with two backs up the hash browns...

Some work is better than no work.

Small steps.

I've decided to move forward with the TS185 project.  I've cleaned & reconfigured the garage and am ready to start working on it.  The electrics are the biggest problem.  It's a 2-stroke, so the engine is really simple and I did a top end a few years ago.  There's something appealing about running around town in a 36 year old bike followed by a cloud of blue smoke!  ;D

Thanks DD!  There is sentimental value in it, I'm restoring it to ride and enjoy rather than resale.  I did start a thread about it and I'll try to keep it updated!

So the revs just drop as you pull in the clutch?
What's the bike idle like? Strong/weak otherwise?

In any case, I can see why it's a freak out. Not cool to suddenly lose power.

no, I can blip the throttle and it'd still stall. idle sounds/looks normal otherwise.

it's not just losing power, the engine shuts itself OFF when I click down on the shift lever

Ok, that's a little more than freaky, but downright scary.

Could it possibly have something to do with a dodgy shift lever cutout switch?
