I read with great interest the Husky V Stihl rivalry online.

The low end model Stihl I was after had a number of people quite unhappy with it. It also was $100 more, had a non adjustable carb and I didn't think much of the local dealer. The Husky dealer is a km from my house.

I know Stihl make good saws, but I had a qu Mark over the low price point model I was after.

I remember that thread.

The reason I bought my Jonsered is I ran my other saw over with the truck.

The local dealer, and a guy that went way out of his way for his customers, was a Jonsered guy. He gave me a hundred bucks for my old saw and I was back cutting that afternoon.

All depends what you're doing with the saw.

I've had awful experiences with Huskys.  My previously much abused 20+ year old Stihl... still... works.

But my new - old design - Mothermake the beast with two backser of a new Stihl..

works

even better  [evil]

It is heavy though.  Can't have everything.

My local dealer is the all rounder. They've had the shop for 20 years. It's a family business and they're sadly becoming rarer these days.

You're probably correct.

My Jonsered says Electrolux on it, but like I say it's 20ish years old. A lot has happened in the world economy since then.

My 20 year old Stihl says "made in Germany"

My new Stihl is German... with a South American accent.

Carlos would like it  ;D

I do too.

Konnte es sein . . . but, Stihl is Bosch's "low end" in some tools and still "independent" on other stuff . . . The Bosch's Campinas factory, turns out Bosch, Stihl and Dremel tools at the same time . . .
