Painting the front fence project well underway. We're about 65% through painting the undercoat. We had half done (myself and daughter #1) in 3 hours this morning.

We pulled up stumps (Aussies World Cup Cricket Champs again), had lunch then went and test drove a Ford Kuga. It had the 2.0 Duratorq diesel engine. It pulled really well off the line, but was somewhat disappointing in overtaking scenarios. it was loaded with tech though.

Tomorrow, we're taking another one for a spin, this time it will have the 2.0 Ecoboost engine and the DSG gearbox fitted. That might make it somewhat more lively.

It's between this car and the Ford Territory 4.0 I6 Petrol. If the Ecoboost engine gives me the oomph I need at overtaking speeds, then it might just get the nod over the Territory. Sunroof, auto opening and closing hatch, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, front parking sensors are quite handy features to have.

Choices.

Anyway, after tea tonight, we put in another hour of painting.

Tomorrow, a few hours painting in the morning, and a few more test drives!  waytogo

4 litre I6 petrol Territory is a notoriously thirsty beast....  Why not the V6 Diesel?  8lt/100km, not quite as frugal as a Mondeo diesel but pretty good fora large beast.

Morning!

Ung, the diesel is simply under powered.

More concerning though, is the problems being reported about the diesel gearbox. No such concerns about the petrol box.

Also, I can always put it on LPG later if I like.

The Kuga with the Ecoboost will be an interesting drive though.

That 4L I-6 from Ford has always been thirsty.  Good motor, just uses a lot of fuel.  A version of it used to be available in the F150 over here.  Not much improvement over the V8.

Morning.

Morning JM.

Good but thirsty sums it up well!

It's a great engine in turbo guise too, but only marginally better on juice than a V8.

We never got the turbo version, but it's been available in the full size Ford since the 70s in one version or another.  My grandad's 1978 Ford truck has the carburated version.  Which reminds me, I need to go check on it, it's only got about 75,000 miles on it and just sits most of the time now.

I believe the motor that was in Fords forever...which started as a 240 cu in I-6 and was a 300 in Gramps P/U is a very different motor than this 4l I-6.

If it' isn't...get the new I-6...it'll be thirsty for about a million miles. Wink

If only they would have come out with a small diesel pickup. Chevy had the opportunity with their revamped Colorado.

Nah-I still have my Jeep and I'm not hauling near as much anymore. Just not worth the expense out here.

I bought the F250 for $2800, used it for almost four years, sold it for $4500.

I can't justify having so many cars after I quit my job and sold the rental properties. My income is slightly diminished these days.
