Mornin' folks!

DP ~ I'm in a well insulated single story brick house.  I've got a fairly small woodstove.  Properly damped, I'll put 3-4 pieces of wood and it'll last the night.  I don't spend all that much time lugging wood around.  2 Saturdays a month in the coldest part of winter is about all it takes.  During the summer, I spend a few days cutting/splitting/stacking any fallen trees on the property ~

Burning wood makes sense for you.

I'm in a rambling two story 1800s farm house.

I used to burn two stoves and wake up cold.

There is also a huge climate difference from here to there.

Oil is out of the question...as is propane.

I'm going with pellets this year.

My parents use 2 woodstoves AND an oil furnace for their house.  My sister has a house that was originally a barn and turned into a house in the 1940's.  She has little if any insulation and runs around $400 of propane a month.  I've heard good things about the pellets.  One of my co-workers uses a pellet stove and has only had 1 problem with it that I'm aware of ~

Would that problem be actually getting the pellets?  They're a hot commodity around here

They're available...

just a 15-25% increase in price.

No, his is an auger-fed stove, and his auger got jammed up one night, leaving him in the cold ~

More Ning, all.

All this talk of pellets, propane, heating oil, etc. etc. makes me happy that I live in an area where there is an abudance of natural gas.  Cheap and clean.  (lots of sunny days and south facing windows don't hurt during winter months, either.)
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.
