It's nearly 50º here in the mountains today.  I'm gonna hop on Syreena for a quick lap around town.  I just ran the Hawk through the neighborhood and it's happy, except I let it sit too long...  Fuel leak returned.

Yeah, sorry my tonsils swelled up so much that they were pressing on my brain stem.  The whole ambulance ride, all I could think about (besides how hot the two female paramedics were) was how much you hated hospitals, and how bad I felt about having to call you and ask for a ride...   [cheeky]

Seriously though,  you, Dave, Carl - seriously good people that I'm honored to call my friends.  [wine]

Why?  It still snows there.  Ventura County, CA is where it's at!

Why yes yes there are.

The next question would be why do you stay there?  :P

mike and i spent the day in the outdoors
my cheeks are rosy to say the least

now.. inside in front of the fire wrapped in a blanket  :)

we worked at clearing a path for the oil truck
spread lots of calcium chloride to melt the 2" of ice

thanks for all of your feedback on the roof  [thumbsup]
the house was built in '93

the insulation could be the issue
that roof has no attic above it and the cathedral ceiling has recessed lighting

how does dan suggest we get up there and how do we create a channel? dremmel? drill?

The cans could be part of the issue too. They are notoriously leaky and usually improperly installed.

My slope ceilings will have no cans.

I don't think the wall is the issue.

With any luck at all I'll be ready when the ground is thawed.

I'll be doing a lot of the work myself and I'll need as much time as possible. :-\

I'm nervous.

There is so much to plan for...and I suck at planning. What I'm planning on doing is not your every day house.

I'm lucky that I have friends in the trades...oh and in architecture...

can't forget the architect. :P

Sounds like a fun day.  Yep, the recessed lights in a cathedral ceiling are a likely contributor to the problem.  Unfortunately, the 'channel' usually is done with a sledge hammey.  Ladders up to the roof, and once you're up there it's usually pretty easy to walk on the snow.  You're gonna be amazed at how much water you find.

Is a hammey a Maine thing? [laugh]
