Ok, I've seen those, still IMHO, you'd be better off getting a newer more efficient one. Assuming yours is at least a 5Ton model a newer 7.5Ton unit should use the same or less electricity

Yea, we were thinking that this one being over 10 years old, that we could get a much better unit.  We also plan on selling in a few years, and a fairly new A/C unit would help the price.

Yes ... That helps a lot ...

Is your unit a/c and heater?

Yes, it is a heat pump & A/C unit, and hasn't worked all that well for the past couple years.

This is similar to the outside unit, but mine is probably 7.5T and physically much larger.

OK ... 99% of units sold here don't have the heating part working unless some rich bumblebee has a house on the mountains and wants to have it heated ...

I don't rely on the heat part, I use a wood stove for heat since we get as low as -15C on a regular basis during the winter.

What was the estimate that was submitted to the insurance company?

Did the repair shop submit a supplement?

yes the check is for the original estimate. we (the dealer and i) knew the adjustors estimate was low. they were supposed to work out the difference with the dealer and take care of it. hopefully they did. i didn't pay anything to the dealer yet, and i have a totally fixed up car  ;D i wasn't supposed to get this check at all... are you with me here? it's just another hassle i wasn't planning on having to deal with.

Eating chips, Kettle chips, and drinking a beer. typing w/ one hand. Work is good, raise and extended through December w/ benefits. Should have budget for regular position after that.

Probly a non issue.

Take the check to the dealer and tell them to figure it out with the adjuster.
