Do you have a Paypal account? If so, post it up here and I'll contribute to your bike fund.

Never believe or take the first offer from an insurance adjuster. I would have a lawyer review your policy prior to accpeting any type of settlement. The motorcycle should be covered the same as any other possession.

Unfortunately that's not how it works.
Cars and bikes (vehicles) have their own policies to protect against fire and theft, or if you crash and it's your fault.
Liability only will only help you if you hit someone else. If the bike/car is stolen, crashed, burned etc, it's gone. It doesn't matter that it was in your garage when it happened (in the case of the OP)
Homeowners covers things that don't have their own policies.
Im thinking of calling my agent to see about protecting my track bike against fire/theft since I read this thread

You should it is very cheap my brother went into the army and took his bike off the road. Since he owes $$$ on it he had to keep fire/theft insurance on it. It is only 80$ a year.

Dude, what a great article!
The margarita part of this tale of woe is that you are now immortalized as a badass!
It makes you sound like Chuck f-ing Norris. New Ducati in the garage,
exploding
. You, leaping through the flames, pistol in hand.
The only thing missing is you roundhouse kicking the fire into submission!
BTW +11tyb that everyone is ok.
First off...glad you all are ok!
Second...this post was too funny not to comment on!

While I agree that the vehicle
should
be covered...
experience has shown that motor vehicles are not covered under a homeowners policy...
like ML said...
and I'm in too.
