dude, do you know how many people have said "when the SHTF, I'm coming to your house?"

I just tell them "Bring cases of ammo, a full tank of gas, and plenty of canned food and you're welcome"

(fyi, most of my collection is old stuff.  my dad was a ww1/ww2 collector.  has stuff from the various conflicts in the 19th and early 20th centuries.  Spanish, Austrian, Portuguese (!), Russian, Finn, you name it, he loved collecting guns.  I guess fleeing the Red Army does that to you...)

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Hells no.

Since I sold of all the guns I had at one time, I don't have much to offer other than the SKS already posted.

that is the updated "bush" rifle.  The old version (30 years ago) had a regular flash hider and no forward scope mount.  otherwise identical.

i like that scope mount, but probably best with a collimator.  the flash hider is supposed to be excellent.

also for causing hernias.

lemme see you hump that through some brush with a box of ammo.

or elbow it under some barb wire fence.

50bmg is useful, but very limited utility overall.  99% of what most people can hit with a 50, I can hit with a 7.62 and be much happier getting there.
Just a box of ammo?I need more than that!It does suck to carry but after its set up who cares,I just want to shoot at things 800-1000 yards away.

that's my point -- it is a great platform, but has limited utility -- and most people can't take advantage of the potential accuracy range.

1000 yds is just over 3 football fields -- not far at all for a potential target to sneak up to you -- and with a lighter rifle and ammo load, he'll do it once you're spotted.

that's why USMC et al only use the M82 for equipment and not personnel.

Some of my toys (inside the safe):

I have an original Springfield M14/s "Bush" rifle, but it's boxed (recently moved stuff around)..  I'd post a pic if I find it soon.  IT is very sweet.

How many can you name?

and an AOW smoothbore I keep in the car:  (i had it in the house for cleaning)

Sweet! Is that a walk in safe that is huge? That is a sweet collection. Is that one a winchester trench gun? That is nice....

back to rifles.

I am with you on luggin the Barrett around, but I plan on driving it where ever I have to go ;D

Speaking of war-vintage guns, how about one of these bad boys?

Reconditioned surplus MG-34s converted to semi-auto. In Canada they are classified as a long gun, same as any rifle or shotgun so anyone with a standard possession license can buy one.

4 grand though. They also sell Browning US military models.

And these beauties - reproduction semi-auto MP-38, MP-44, MP-3008, and MkB-42

I think you misread something.

1000 meters would be closer to 3 football fields
