Just got back from the range. Rented an MP-5, and a Kriss Super V.

The MP-5 was a real hoot. Extremely controllable if you kept your bursts short, and I felt quite at home with it.

The Kriss was alright, but felt a bit awkward and the 13 round magazine meant that while the good times rolled, they didn't do so for terribly long.

So if anybody out there needs another idea of how to both have a blast and lighten your wallet substantially, consider the above. I am talking to Ducati people, after all. [laugh]

Just sayin'.  100 years and still the gold standard.  Good job J.M. Browning.   [bow_down]
That's right!  I said it!  So what?

I've had my MP5 since 1989 and it has never burped, jammed or bobbled in any way! It runs better than my Honda lawnmower! [laugh] And it's the only investment I have ever made that actually has increased in value!!! [thumbsup] [clap]

And yes, happy 100th anniversary to the 1911. [beer] [drink] [bow_down] I really need to go to the range today and pop a few rounds in celebration. It's an important day for sure. Next one for me is in 2035 for the Hi-Power... if I make it that long. :P
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Sorry. Wish it was an Aimpoint or a Trijicon Reflex II. [bang]

Jeeez, you stop paying attention to this thread for a week or two and you whipper snappers just take things in a different direction.

Anyone thinking about a Kahr vs a Glock/M&P/Sig should fire one first.  Motorcycles are one thing.  You can always buy new pegs/bars/saddles/tanks/etc, but a gun is extraordinarily limited in its customization (I know there's a lot to be done with guns, but we're talking by comparison).  Having mediumish hands for a guy my size, the Kahr FELT fantastic, but shot terribly.  The recoil wasn't necessarily more or less than any other subcompact 9, but the trigger pull was enough to put me off.  First shot out of the Kahr:

Squeeze....
Squeeze........
Squeeze...........
*is this make the beast with two backser going to fire?*
Squeeze................
Sque- BANG

I understand the concept of a surprise trigger break, but that thing is just weird.  If you can get over the trigger, it's a pretty good rig.

As much as I like shooting a 26, it just felt (as someone already said) like a big turd in my hands, not to mention it doesn't conceal well.  I know several people who carry Glocks regularly, but they still seem way too fat for my tastes.

A buddy's Sig p228 (229?  Their 4" 9mm rig) once and it was by far the smoothest shooting pistol I've ever shot.  Impressive save the fact that it actually felt fatter than the glock.  They are, however, coming out with the P290 which I am exceedingly excited about.  I don't think I'll buy it any time soon (pricing looks to be $700ish) but it should be a pretty rad piece, nonetheless.

Ah... a Glock 26 doesn't conceal well? Really? Hmmm... really, a big turd in your hands. I'd love to know what that 26 thought of you shooting it. ;D

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

My first Glock was a 27.  The gun shot well, was reliable but I wasn't comfortable with it and trying to carry it in an inside-the-pants holster was uncomfortable to me.  It went down the road.  Just couldn't love it.

If you are looking for a fun to shoot 9mm, the Kahr is certainly not it.  BUT!  It is one of the slimmest, lightest, easiest to carry and conceal 9mms out there.  Everything is a trade off.  Gunfighting Rule #1 - Have a gun!  Your 40+ oz super 1911 combat pistol may shoot like a dream and work wonderfully but if you leave it home because you can't carry it comfortably or conceal it with what you are wearing, it won't do you a darn bit of good.  That is where the Kahr shines.  Its super lignt, super slim and its odd trigger, while off-putting to start with can be managed.  One of the reasons the trigger performs as it does is to reduce the likelihood of an accidental discharge under stress.  Accidentally putting a hole in someone you are holding at gunpoint because you are carrying your 2.5lb match trigger 1911 lands you in jail.  I've had a couple accidental discharges during the stress of an IPSC match and have seen many more with 1911's - enough to make me switch my carry guns to Glocks and Kahrs and the odd CZ-75 or two, J&K frame Smiths and admittedly a 1911 45 Colt Defender with a heavier trigger

All joking around aside, we are all incredibly lucky to have so many flavors and sizes of handguns to choose from. Every year there are more and more. So much better than fewer and fewer. [thumbsup] Don't like the Glock 26/27? Big deal. Who cares if Glock takes you off their Christmas card list and stops returning your calls? Everyone has the same firearm goal in life... find a gun you like, that feels good in your hand, that you can shoot well, that is concealable (if that matters to you) and that you can afford to shoot. Heck, some folks buy a firearm just because of the way it looks! In fact those same people buy motorcycles and marry people for the same reasons!! [laugh]

I'm just thankful we have so many rifles and handguns to choose from. There are dozens out there for every taste imaginable. [thumbsup] More goodness. ;D [popcorn]

Just cause I'm opinionated on firearms does not mean that I haven't bought or swapped for way more guns than I can even remember.  I tried to love them all and have refined it down to what works for me through one heck of a lot of practice, competition, testing, carrying, hunting and fun blasting.  With a very few exceptions - they are all fun.

Fastwin is right - its just like motorcycles, significant others, cars, computers, stereo equipment, knives etc, etc.   Its great that there is such a variety to mess around with.

It's an interesting comment, I have a Kahr E9 and a P9 and love shooting both of them.  The E9 is easier as it's a steel frame but for carry, nothing beats the P9 for me, although I am looking at the new LC9 from Ruger...

Take a look at the Kimber Solo 9 also.  I handled one a couple of weeks ago and if it shoots as good as it feels, it is a contender in the category of slim, light 9mm's.  The Kahrs we have are the PM-9's.  Its tough to beat for a drop in the pocket gun.  Its a little mite of a gun but with practice, its a pretty solid performer.

PM9?  No wonder you don't like shooting it!

It's not as fun to shoot as my CZ-75 or my wife's Clark Custom 9mm Commander but I get a great deal of satisfaction of burning a jagged hole in the "B" zone of an IPSC target with it at 7 yards.  Little guns can be nearly as accurate as big ones, they just take a different level of committment to getting proficient.
