plus, what happens when your battery dies?  too many variables.  maybe they can put a dyno crank on the rifle, like on those radios.  lol

Hammer could strike a piezo electric crystal, no need for batteries then.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

This gun ran on two 15 or 18 volt (conflicting data) batteries in the pistol grip.  They were good for a minimum of 5000 rounds.

The other major issue H&K had with their assult rifle using caseless ammo was cooking off during full auto firing.

Cooking off rounds is never good. :P

Anyone interested in a LNIB SIG P220 in .45?

Pref local sales only.

I bought it years ago and it's been very neglected (i.e. unused in my gun safe, pristine condition).  Comes with 3 mags, original box + docs.  I used to be obsessed with SIGs but have moved away from them.  Excellent gun, I just haven't used it and am clearing out space.  I also have a leather bikini holster and a mag pouch for it (somewhere, don't hold me to that).  They are unused.

Had one...after around 100 rounds my wrist started aching like a 15 year-old's

Great piece though, is that an old Alexandria Va. import?

Nope, Exeter.  Probably one of the first ones out of there I remember when they moved.

I don't remember it doing anything funny to my wrist..  Maybe you need to do some more exercises?  :-)

Funny (and sad) my SIGs get little use these days also. I too have an old 220 in .45acp. Used to love shooting it but went back to my first love, 1911s. I have an older 228 and 226. Also great guns but eventually went back to Hi-Powers (single action fetish [laugh]) and then Glocks.

Even have one of the weird S&W 1076 10mm pistols. Single stack like a 220 or 1911 and a de-cocker like a SIG. It was the FBI pistol for a very short while. Talk about a gun I haven't shot in years!! [bang] [roll] Can't remember the last time I even saw any 10mm ammo for sale in a store. The .40S&W put that round 6 feet under. :P

Interarms imported some really good stuff over the years.  I have an Interarms-imported Glock 19 that was a police trade-in.  Maintained by the Glock factory.  they had to put adjustable target sights on it to make the points for import, but they included the fixed sight, just tapped it out and put them in.  I like showing it off, it says MADE IN AUSTRIA and has the austrian eagle proof all over it.

My brother owned a 10mm Glock. He got rid of it once he realized how much money he was wasting in rounds.

They did indeed import some gems over the years, the old PPK's, they did a limited run of Swiss Luger re-issues, Mauser Banner Lugers etc etc

As for the 10MM I think the FBI ditched that round after some tragic shoot-out in Florida IIRC where it proved highly ineffective as a stopping round

No, that was the tragic 1986 Miami, Florida shoot out when they used Federal 115grn 9mm hollow points and they failed to penetrate the auto body and glass of the bank robber's vehicle effectively. The bad guys guys had Ruger Mini-14s if I remember right and successfully used their vehicle as hard cover against incoming fire. The Feds had 9mm autos, maybe a snub wheelgun and possibly a 12 gauge shotgun. They got shot up rather badly.

That shoot out made the FBI re-think their sidearms and the caliber they fired. That led to the development of the 10mm S&W 1076 that I own. It's a huge chuck of stainless steel. Any normal sized male (or female) agent would have to lug around that heavy hand cannon and it made under cover work a pain in the ass. It accomplished their ballistic goals but the size and handling of the weapon was very unpopular with agents.

In the meantime S&W was deveoping the .40S&W round in the background. It fit in a standard 9mm frame/magazine and produced ballistics very similar to the 10mm. It did everything the FBI wanted. 10mm horsepower for punching holes in car doors and windows... and bad guys!! [thumbsup] All the while fitting into the popular sized 9mm handguns. Case closed, the rest is history. ;D

Stupid made for TV movie about it but it actually portrays the shoot out pretty well.
