That'll do. [thumbsup] 00 buck solves all sorts of problems. ;D And you really don't need 3" magnum shells. Probably does as much harm to the shooter as those that are being shot at. [laugh] And eats up magazine space.

We ran 2 & 3/4" 00 in our shorties.

This is what you could have had:

1.75" shells.  Slugs or double aught.  you can pack 8 or 9 into a 14" tube instead of 4 or 5

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Yea, but you can find good old fashioned 00 all over the place, to include each and every armory in the sandbox.  Besides, those nine pellets do a great job of displacing the contents of Hajji's head when delivered just under the chin at about seven inches.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

that's a very good point.  there is somethign to be said for toting common loads.

Repeat after me: 00 buck solves all sorts of problems. [thumbsup] [laugh] Nothing like nine .32 caliber rounds coming at you at the same time. [popcorn] [bacon]

What about 32 of them coming at you in a line?

I'm thinking about building a 1/3 scale .22 caliber Gatling gun.

We've also discussed scaling it up to accept .410 shot shells.

Discuss.

One issue with .410 gatling would be extraction.  There is a lot of drag with the expanded plastic hull sliding out of the chamber.  I did a bit of messing around with a Taurus Judge and was suprised how hard extraction was.  But, as with most things, I'm sure some smart, creative people can overcome little problems like that.

Once, at the Second Chance combat shoot in Michigan a guy showed up with two gatlings, one in 45-70 and the other in 9mm.  He had big fiber drums full of surplus Egyptian 9mm and burned it up by the 5 gallon bucket.

Colt is currently making a limited run of 45-70 Gatlings - they are utterly beautiful.  Dealer price is $39500.

If I do it I'd start with the .22 version to get my feet wet and keep costs down.

After I get a handle on it we can scale up to .410

Or 50bmg [laugh]

You'd go poor throwing those rounds downrange.

Hence the [laugh]

No real desire to do anything with a 50.

I would like to build an ar one day though. At least I can shoot that around here.

I did the demo shooting for a friend of mine that made 50BMG rifles.  Once, I put a hit on a 55 gallon drum at 2000 yards for some prospective clients.  About a 7 second flight time and if you missed reading the wind, you missed by 20 yards.  Fun and interesting.  The only thing he didn't machine was the barrel rifling.  They were beautiful rifles.  Shooting the 50s with the big muzzle brakes usually gives me a massive headache and nausea from the shockwave - its interesting but I pay for it.

The guy that had the two gatlings at Second Chance also had a crank fired 37mm Hochkiss cannon that he brought to Knob Creek.  Big Fun!
