True that about .22lr ammo. [thumbsup] No .22lr AR platform experience but even my step son's Ruger Bearcat (a modern version not an oldie like I had as a kid) is very picky about .22lr ammo. Of course it has basic SAA type sights... "ditch" on the receiver and tall blade front sight, so maybe "target" type sights would help in that part of accuracy. But that's the way the gun is, "old west" sights. But even with that rudimentary sight set up you can clearly see it has a preference in ammo. I don't see .22lr AR platforms being much different.
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I read somewhere that you can swap a .223 upper on to the factory CMMG .22lr- that would probably seal the deal for me.

Thanks for the recco.

the lowers are all identical, they use a mag well adapter for the 22 mag.

i have a registered lower, and i swap it between the 5.56 M4 upper and the new 7.62 tokarev SBR upper.

Thinking about getting an SBR upper as well.  Wish I had the cash for a happy switch of my own, but those are only for work...

you mean lower?  or do you already have a registered lower?

once you register the lower you can use it with any upper, sbr or not.  i used to have a 7" upper but it was just a waste.  i registered mine so I could swap between a carbine upper and that 7" thinking i would use it, but it isn't worth it.  all of the 5.56 loads need at least 12-14" of barrel to get to speed.  i sold it after i picked up an M4 barreled upper.  the tokarev upper has a 11" barrel and makes a lot better sense as almost all of the ammo is pistol and uses the shorter barrel much better.

in truth, i don't know i'll ever get the full auto, it's fun for sure, but i come from a sharpshooter background so dumping brass is not my thing.  the can, however.. that's just common sense.

I'm planning to get my SR-15 lower registered then be able to swap out between its upper and a .300 Black Out SBR upper, which will also take a can.

Nice thing about happy switches: that little stamp trumps all and it doesn't matter what length the barrel is, as there is no barrel length requirements for "machine guns".

it's true, but it's a shitload more money involved and you can't cut your own, you have to take what's out there as opposed to just buying a $60 lower plus the $200 versus $10-15-20K for a full auto on a form 4.

and in the OFF chance they repeal the bad parts of FOPA, that $15k rifle you bought is now worth about 90% less!

Never said anything about it being cost effective, just nice.   :D

Full auto on an assault rifle is a waste.

Sure, and throw in an automatic sack scratcher, wouldja?  I'll take 2.

You probably know it just comes from the realization that they can't teach everyone to be a sharpshooter.  Give them a 3 rd burst and they might hit something...  mag dumping full auto is definitely a questionably feature though, unless it's belt fed whatever it is.

While we are on the subject, I have seriously been thinking about dumping my Steyr AUG full auto. I've had it since 1989 and it's probably stupid money now. It's too damn expensive to shoot a lot in these times. Don't know if that will hurt it's value, but I assume most folks who can afford a .223 full auto can also afford the ammo.

I'll hang onto the MP-5 forever. I've got surplus 9mm out the kazoo. Also had it since 1989 and have never had to replace anything... nada, zip, nothing. [thumbsup] Been gentle on the barrel so it's even still in great shape.

Probably the two best "investments" I have ever made. [popcorn]

Because selling the AUG will fund the Panigale.
