Unless you need to tell everyone you know "Look, I own a $130K shotgun!"

Then it's worth every penny.
I suppose they sell really well on Long Island's north shore. ;D

so that is exactly what I'm thinking.  I don't ever plan on using a revolver but the option would be there if TSHTF.

I'm sure I'll fall in love with guns just like I do with everything else and get a nice 9mm handgun too. ;D

I'm not in a hurry so it looks like I'll be watching gunbroker.com a lot in the next months until I find the one I want.

How successful could I be by just going and checking out pawn shops?

pawn shops are hit and miss.  i have never seen a very nice gun in a pawn shop in the last few years though -- the owners will keep them for themselves.  it makes a difference where you are though.  if you're in Arizona, you'll probably see a much better selection.

for a SHTF gun, you wants something in a commonly issued caliber.. that means 12ga, 9mm,40sw,5.56 or 7.62nato.  other calibers less so, but those are the ones most issued by LE and the militaries of the world.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I like revolver caliber lever actions. I'm blessed with some Winchester 94s in .22lr, .22mag, .357mag (obviously it will handle .38spl too [thumbsup]), .45LC and one .30-.30 that belonged to my Dad... yeah, I know it's not a revolver round.

Marlins are great rifles. Too bad they stopped making the Win 94 line. All that did was jack up the prices to the crazy level. Look for a Marlin in .357mag. Great kick ass self defense round and you can plink with cheaper .38spl ball ammo to your heart's content. [popcorn]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Love my Henry .357

When time came to get junior a lever action .22lr the Win 94s were long gone. And he's not getting mine while I'm still alive! >:( [laugh] My older brother said go Henry. He got his two boys Henry .22s. I looked into them and they were as nice as the 94s. Good price, made in the USA and had a great warranty/factory service. What's not to like? Junior got one and is working hard to wear it out! The Marlin version was just a little too big for him. I think he likes the Henry more than his 10/22 Ruger!

They make a damn fine lever action for the $$$!

357!   You can plink cheap ammo and use the magnum rounds for some extra kick.

Gunbroker.com is awesome!   I just landed a beretta cx4 -45 caliber with full rails, 4 clips, fake suppressor and forward handle with carry case for 585 two days ago.

And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.
