I don't like Sigs, trigger travel sucks, but can be modded.
How about Browning HP?

If you want to spend a little more, go for a Sig P210

When it came out, there was nothing like it.

I've been thinking about the Walther PPQ a lot.

brix suggestion is best, go to a range that has a lot of different guns and make your choice based off what 'you' like best.

One of the other big upsides of Glocks is the universal availability of parts and mags.  Factory Glock parts are unbelievably inexpensive and can be found all over.  A number of people here really like the CZ-75's and they are great guns - Finding parts and mags is not quite as easy.  The Sig 226 - 228 might be another good option.  They are a bit heavy and expensive, but are solidly built and very reliable.

I'm currently doing a large study of 9mm guns, ammunition and reloads for a magazine article I'm putting together.  I'm using 9 different handguns and a wide variety of ammunition, shooting from bags at 50' for accuracy and running the chronograph for velocity.  Pretty interesting.  The Glocks ( a 19 and a 34) have both been solid performers with the exception of some plated hollowpoints.  The CZ has turned in the best average accuracy across all the loads tested.  The best group was shot with my wifes Clark Custom 9mm Commander, but the gun is very finicky on what it likes to shoot.  The highest velocity so far has been out of the Glock 34 with a near max load of Vit 3N37 and a 115 Hornady XTP.
Fiochii loads a "Defensive" load with the Hornady 115 XTP bullet.  It has been the most consistently accurate load through all guns.  It also has the lowest velocity of any load shot so far.  In the Kahr PM-9 it is actually under 1000 fps.  I have a pile of combinations to test yet - probably take me most of the summer.  So far the most accurate reload across all the guns has been a 115 Nosler hollowpoint loaded with Longshot.  The most feeding issues has been with two 1911 style 9mm's in the test.  Interesting stuff.

How have you found the CZ's accuracy compares between 115 gr rounds and say 124?

I've shot sub inch groups at 50' with both bullet weights.  So far my testing has been mostly with 115 grain bullets, the heavier bullets will be tested once I'm done with the 115's and change the powder charges.  I did shoot some reloads with a 124 Hornady FMJ, loaded with Longshot, and it shot excellently.  Best group so far in the CZ has been with the 115 Hollopoints by Hornady and Nosler.  I shot some old 124 Federal Nyclad ammunition in the CZ and turned in the worst group with that gun - 2"@50' - still fine accuracy for a defensive handgun.  If the gun is reliable and adequately accurate, getting wound up about the last little quarter inch of accuracy is pretty moot.  I'm trying to come up with a load that gives great terminal performance, high velocity and energy, reliability and accuracy in a wide variety of guns.  It's an interesting exercise and there likely won't be one good answer.  It is a good way to develop a good baseline for performance of a bunch of my pistols in the process.

It's like a motorcycle - if you sit on it and you don't like how it feels, try things until you are happy.  I run a private class for people new to shooting, recently it is mostly women who want to get a defensive handgun.  I set them down and give a talk about the basic types, advantages and disadvantages and then let them handle about 20 different handguns until they find a couple that they think they like.  I go through those guns in detail with them and get them shooting, then they can compare and contrast what they like and don't like.  They they at least have some personal experience on which to base their decision on what type of gun suits them, instead of relying on what some knucklehead in a gunshop, or magazine article telling them what they need.

Its YOUR personal weapon - It needs to work for YOU!

The MOE is 1/2-28 threaded. It is just on there real tight. I took it back to the shop and they are working on it. Thanks for the heads up though.

Yes. Do that. Go "test ride" as many as you can. Borrow some from friends if you have friends that shoot. I, like K-taker, am partial to G-19s and 17s. In my soul I'm really a 1911 .45acp guy but 9mm is semi cheap these days and all the good things that have been said here about Glocks is true. They ain't pretty but they work, parts are everywhere and they are very reasonably priced. But I love my Wayne Novak Browning HPs, my CZ-75s, my SIG 228 & 226, etc... Point is, go shoot all that you can. Then get what you want/like/can afford. Period. [thumbsup]

Besides the sound of a Duc with good pipes or my RC-51 with Satos or an American V-8 with a good exhaust there is nothing like the sound of fast track ringing steel! [thumbsup] [popcorn] [bacon] Love it!

... that and a low fly over by a P-51!

PS  is that a PACT timer... sounds like one.
