Id rather see a discussion about every gun pic.. but that's just me.. I like to learn about everything I could.  That way  when I start my gun collection ill be more knowledgeable.
No one said you couldn't discuss a pic. You can fawn all over someone's gun if you must.

The idea is to keep irrelevant chatter out of the pic thread.

Say someone posts a pic...there's no reason not to ask questions/comment, but....

general discussion about tactical lights or skwerrals shouldn't be there.

The problem is that discussion always devolves.

I call this forum wide phenomenon "DP's Razor"

Actually you call it...

IB4TL. :-*

There's no reason that the discussion needs to devolve.

Even you kids have some self control.

Call it as in lock or not?

Of course don't.

On a gun related note I saw some new CZ pistols at a gun show yesterday.  Not bad looking. I've never seen any other that older models before. The gun mags must not like them.

All I bought was a brick of 500 22lr for $15 which I didn't think was a bad deal.

I'm playing to a certain extent...what extent depends on you guys.

I think that's a decent price. What brand?

I've been using Aguila 40gr subsonics out of my single shot.

They're twice that.

Too many people have glock fever. ;)

Meh.  I've got an older model 19 that I'd be happy to sell you.  ;)

Thanks...I'll pass. I'm a dinosaur, and believe a firearm should be steel.

You don't happen to have a cz 82 or DUO by chance? ;D

I have a CZ 85, which is an ambidextrous model 75, and a model 97 which is the same basic setup in 45.

They are top notch pistols.  Gun mags have written about them for years, but there isn't much to say, they are an old design which is well proven.  I believe a domestic company started selling a version of them, it was in one of the NRA mags.  Jeff Cooper was convinced the CZ75 was the best combat pistol.  I like mine a lot, but it's not my carry piece.

During the great ammo shortage of a year or two ago I had trouble even finding normal, name brand .22LR ammo in town. I looked at two or three different sporting goods stores where you'd notmally find plenty and I found zip, nothing. Empty spots on the shelves where it should been. Maybe a box of two but no bricks. Couldn't believe it! Forget .380, everyone knew that was extinct (at least for a while) but I'm talking about normal Federal or Winchester high velocity stuff.

Went to my farm in east Texas soon afterwards and stopped at the giant Wal-Mart in Mineola. Walked by the gun/sporting goods area and screeched to a halt. Hmmm, maybe they have some .22 ammo. No kidding, there were probably 300 bricks of Federal high velocity stacked up behind the counter! 550 round bricks, not the normal 500 count. Something like $12-$13.00 a brick. Can't remember exactly. I bought eight bricks and got a warm IZ_ happy feeling. [laugh] Almost forgot why I even went in the store in the first place! Told the guy at the counter about the lack of .22 ammo in Dallas and all he said was "no problem out here in the country". Yep, he's right. [thumbsup]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

My wife said I was nuts for buying pallets of 7.62nato and 7.62 russian when it was selling for around 10-12 cents/round.  I picked up a buttload of Wolf 7.62 russian from TAPCO of all places -- they had it for $75 for 1000 rds.  I sold off one box of each recently and that paid for the whole pallet that's left...  :D

Who was looking for a good 1911?

Page 6:

Rock Island uses the Armscor frames from Phillipines.  They are not tack drivers, but they are pretty decent.  Can't beat the price either $349.

Sarco used to have tons of great stuff, they still get neat deals now and then.  I still don't know what to do with the two FND parts kits I bought on a whim...  They used to have Citadel M14 barrels on an Armscor receiver for $400 total, and XM21 marked dual lug barreled receivers for about $100 more.  I wish I'd bought all of them....

Everyone thought I was nuts buying all the cheap Norinco ammo when Micheal Tinney was the importer years ago. He's the guy who used to own Gun List, sold it and started Cheaper Than Dirt with some other folks. Who knows if he still has anything to do with it. In between Gun List and CTD he was the Norinco guy. I still have cases of Chinese 9mm, .45, .223, .308 and 7.62x39. Should have sold a bunch of it during the ammo crunch and bought a new Duc with the proceeds! [laugh]

I remember the good old gun show days (late 80s early 90s) when Tinney would set up his "all things Norinco" booth. You could buy a Norinco SKS and a 1200 rnd case of 7.62x39 ammo for $200!!!! There's no telling how many of those $200 package deals he sold at every show. There would be a parade of empty two wheel hand trucks going in and just as many fully loaded heading back out!

I even bough one of the Norinco 1911s they made. Not the prettiest pistol around but my gunsmith dropped in a Videcki trigger, cleaned up the action, fitted a NM bushing and did a little polish work on the ramp and voila! Pretty decent, cheap as shit, hard working 1911! Who'd a thought? [thumbsup]

Sounds like there are some reloaders on this forum. I think WarrenJ mentioned it. I don't reload. My brother used to reload a lot. Not so much anymore. See if you can get some folks to PM you with ideas and tips on getting started. During the previously mentioned ammo crunch I heard that primers were impossible to come by. There was a huge "gold rush" on reloading components. I'm sure it's settled down by now... I think?
