Want.

If you gave me a choice, I'd want the USAS12 over the AA12 any day.

Good read.. http://www.chuckhawks.com/ammo_by_anonymous.htm

"Lastly, your attacker is safer because he is far less likely to die from one or two hollowpoint bullets than the five or six round-nose slugs you would have had to fire to put him down. Most gunshot deaths occur from shock and loss of blood, and ball rounds tend to make entry and exit wounds, whereas hollowpoints go in and stay put. An attacker shot twice with ball ammo will probably have four holes in him rather than two, and is thus in far greater danger of death from blood loss. If you can avoid killing your attacker you should, for both moral and legal reasons"

yeah, that's a weird statement.  for legal reasons, you want him dead.  dead men tell no tales.

and the "hollowpoints don't make exit holes" claim is garbage.  they can exit and do make holes, and when they do, they are usually a little bigger than the entry hole and that's after making a huge cavity inside and pushing all the innards around rudely, especially when firing at "social work" ranges.

I don't hunt deer anymore but from all the ones I have shot over the years (with .223, .308 and .30-06 hollow points) all of them had nice small entry wounds and many of them had gaping exit wounds. Proper shoulder shots to hit the heart/lung area did not create huge exit wounds since a full size white tail or mule deer is pretty thick in that area but they still were impressive. But the few I shot though and through in the neck were just plain ugly.

Like ducks (no pun intended ;D) I'd rather look at deer now days rather than hunt them. Dove and quail are another story. [evil] But to say all hollow points go in and stay put is a little hard to swallow. With either bullet type some nasty shit is going on inside. [puke] Thank you but I'd rather not be hit with either one. ;)

Could it be the lower grain ammo or less volicity which wouldn't exit?  My guess is placement.. chest cavity is a lot harder then shoulder..

a .22 to the chest - point blank

and

a 9mm to the tricep - 30+meters

Wow. Shot himself in BOTH legs and gets busted for drugs. [bang] This puts him in secure running for one of those Darwin awards! [laugh] [thumbsup]

On a more positive note, just got one of my heavy barrel ARs and my Rem 700 PSS (both in .223) bore sighted. Did some scope moving on one and changed scopes on the other. They'll be going on my dove hunt week after next. I'm going several days before opening day so I'll have plenty of time to get them doped in.

The weather has been so hot and dry in west TX I am assuming the dove hunting will be slim to none. Soooo... we'll be baiting the hog traps and deer feeders with corn to see if we can rustle up some feral hog action. Three years ago my friend who owns the ranch caught 11 hogs at one time in the big trap!!! Eleven!!! All were in the 50-75 lb range. Good eating size. [thumbsup] You want to try something really hard. Try shooting 11 wild hogs in a steel re-bar trap sometime. They are literally bouncing off the top of the trap and over each other before you ever pull the trigger on the first one! [bang] Then all hell breaks loose!

I got stuck doing the pig shooting a few years earlier when he caught three at one time in the same big trap. They were in the 150+ lb range. I had a Glock 23 with me so I got voted pig killer. It took me 10 minutes to get off those three head shots! I was scared they would zig or zag the second I pulled the trigger and I would bounce a .40S&W hollow point off the steel cage! I got it done but when he trapped 11 smaller ones I said I'm passing on this job. Had all the fun I wanted last time. :P More fun/sporting at 100 yds. with a scoped rifle. [thumbsup]
